Best KPortal Reviews

Had a lovely overnight stay here last night. Great, spacious room with nice features. Smart TV. Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. Highlight of the evening was what was undoubtedly one of the best Indian meals we have ever had. Quality of ingredients, the spicing and execution were all top notch. Highly recommended.
We spent a night here on a weekend trip from London. The rooms are very fresh and spacious and the hotel is well heated. There was a misunderstanding with the booking through a third party website and the manager was lovely, very apologetic and more than made up for it. Indian food served at the restaurant was very nice. We had a lovely stay thank you.
Excellent refurbishment, and It deserves more than two stars. However, while the previous incarnations of this pub might not have been as nicely furnished, it was the only local place offering games. Prior to lock-down it had a pool table, darts, and bar billiards (one of a few in Wiltshire).
The room was spotless and spacious, boasting a massive bathroom with a fantastic shower. The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. On top of the great cask ale selection, the restaurant offered an excellent Indian menu, serving as a delightful bonus.
We have just returned from a lovely stay at The Old Railway Hotel Porton. We picked this on price, location and previous positive reviews and pics that showed it had been newly refurbished. We thought it was excellent. The staff are very pleasant and friendly, in particular the lady behind the bar, and we met the new owner of the business, Mohamed, who was the most laid-back and amiable chap we've met in a very long time. ||It was the first night they had been serving curries made on the premises and they were absolutely outstanding. We eat a lot of curries and these were the real deal. We slept very well and although we could hear the people in the pub down below, it didn't affect us and we think if you are staying in a pub then you will expect to hear people and it didn't go on late. ||We would recommend The Old Railway Porton and will absolutely return. It's a great base from which to enjoy Salisbury and the surrounds and was a very relaxing place to be. In the words of Mohamed, 'Don't rush things...'
Bland, boring pub. Lovely old Victorian building but lacks any personality and character when you're inside. Nowhere nice to sit outside as it's surrounded in tarmac.
How lovely to have an Indian restaurant so close by to us rather than going into the city, we thought! And Wednesday Night Banquet on offer (1 starter,1 main, one veggie and either rice or Nan £16 pp) even better...? We booked for 6.30p.m. as neither of us want to eat late at night these days. Arrvied 6.15 and shown to table in the bar as the dining area was full. Drinks order taken by kind lady at the bar. Menus arrived at 6.30p.m. and then offered poppadoms whilst choosing although we had already decided by this time. Hey ho- poppadoms are good. We had to catch somepne's eye before anyone then came to take our order after we had fininshed and the plates cleared. Onion bahjis (2 pp tho the menu said 4 pieces but no matter) - mine was too dry for my liking and the quarter of tomato and sliver of cucumber on ubiquitous lettuce didn't help with the dryness. At 7 .10 p.m. our mains had not come. Asked a waiter who said they were just coming - twenty minutes later.....! In the meantime, someone had given us a plate and then 5 minutes later someone gace us a knife and fork- good ploy! The lamb Tikka my husband had was tasty but the amount of lamb to the amount of sauce was disproportionate and my chicken Pathia was also tasty with lashings of sauce and just enough meat. With that amount of juice, we had only knives and forks - the only spoons there were was one to serve each main course. We used those! By this time, it was gone 8 p.m. so we asked for the bill. It came quickly by comparison but we had been overcharged by £14 as they had taken full payment, not the special offer price. Pointed this out and along came an amended bill. We left two hours later. I know, that isn't overly long for an evening meal but it is if you have no food for most of that time! Yes, we were asked three times if everything was ok with the meal but each time, there was not the time given us to explain what was going wrong here - the food wasn't the issue, but the service and organisiation is. No we did not stay to have a conversation as we just wanted to go home but so disappointing. It could be so good.
Amazing experience from start to finish, staff very welcoming, and the room was very impressive. Breakfast was great, and we would definitely stay there again. This experience was a birthday present, so a real treat.
