We been here 3 times and have wonderful memories. The first time it was just two of us , my wife who was pregnant and myself bought one of the big mushroom stones and a small one. The second time, it was three of us with our first child and bought another big mushroom stone. The last time it was again three of us but my wife was pregnant with our second child and so we bought a small mushroom stone to make it four of them just like us. Now we have baby no.3 and can't wait to make our journey to there to buy the last small mushroom stone but they are closed...All the best to the shop owner and thanks for the great stones!!! Hope this shop will open again and we can go buy our last one although we are now living in the other side of the world, South Korea.
Fantastic gift shop in perhaps the most beautiful village in all of England. Sadly, the owner will be closing soon for good. Great sale prices with unique items for your consideration
We browsed the quirky shop - lot's of leather goods - and then had a light lunch in the cafe. Lots of outdoor seating overlooking the river which was lovely in the summer sunshine. The quiche was very good and a favourite amongst our group. The cafe is cash only. We didn't have room for ice cream at the museum but they looked good - I wanted to try the gooseberry.
The tea room at the Old Mill was lovely, we were the first to arrive and sat in the small patio area over looking the stream/river. Very tranquil and calm, exactly what we needed. We had our tea and scones while watching the ducks and sheep. The staff are so welcoming.

This afternoon I walked past the Old Mill in Lower Slaughter. Pre-pandemic, it also had a lovely Riverside Cafe. Sadly, there is no date when it will reopen. However, if you're looking for refreshments you can buy an ice cream. They're not cheap though.
Today the amiable owner Gerald was chatting with one of the customers as he served ice cream through the shop window. "I apologise there are no flakes. There is a global shortage of them. Would you believe they are made in Egypt?"
The shop itself sells antiques, leather goods, classic country style clothes, maps and quality Cotswolds souvenirs.
The Old Mill has two adjacent buildings. It appears the museum is just the shop now (but I just went looking for the cafe so can only report on that).
Lower Slaughter is beautiful but you're unlikely to find anywhere else to eat: the other hotels seemed to be permanently pre-booked but do check first.
We visited 5 years ago and found the shop absolutely charming in the ambience of the lovely town of Lower Slaughter. We hope to visit again at the of June 2024. Any updates on whether the shop will be open again by then?
Very picturesque old water mill in Lower Slaughter village. It is (supposedly) open for visitors unfortunately the rather imposing (and over-priced) mill shop presents a barrier to getting in. Otherwise, a lovely location and pleasant walks nearby.
Great little gift shop with friendly staff and the most perfect little cafe right next to the river. Nothing cuter and more English especially on a nice day! 5 stars!!!
