Great pub, great service & the Sunday roast is amazing!! £10.50 for a mix meat plate with all the trimmings & extra sides too! This is the best & biggest roast dinner I've ever had... Oh & the Bailey's & Hob-nob cheese cake was a dream in my mouth!!! Shame it's so far from London.
Extremely friendly staff and landlord and landlady food is always excellent with excellent choice of drinks. It is now permanently Closed down
Visited today for Sunday lunch. Staff were really accommodating, food was superb, lovely home cooked food, piping hot and really generous portions. Certainly one of the best Sunday lunches we have had locally. What a great friendly team they are, very welcoming and pet friendly. No wonder it was so busy. Be back soon.????????
Found this little gem on the off chance and we are absolutely delighted that we did. The staff were extremely lovely and so friendly. The service was amazing, the food was cooked to order and this was evident, very impressive and extremely delicious. The portions sizes were huge and even our dog was catered for with lovely treats. Thank you to everyone who made us feel very welcome.

Bit shocked to read a post of dissatisfaction about Sunday Lunch at The Old Black Lion. We have had several lunches there and each time they have been excellent with great food, good healthy portions and a warm friendly service. I sincerely hope the posters review of a couple of weeks ago dog is well fed otherwise. Go Fido !!!!!
A great belly full of food! Popped in here yesterday, great traditional pub complete with log burner blazing. Nice feeling greeted by friendly staff. Good choice of Sunday Dinner followed by puddings menu. Really nice pub, easy to get to and great service, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a hearty full lunch. Thank you to your team, will be visiting again.
It was a first time out for a Sunday meal this year, the place was so clean. The waitress couldn't do enough for you.. we was asked if you wanted chicken, beef, pork or lamb... before the meal got to our table she brought vegetables.. very small portions... pleased it was only me that needed the vegetables..
The only thing that I have got a little bit of grumble with is... The price of the meal is different to each meat.. wish they would tell you when you are about to order or put it on a blackboard so you know what you're paying for... YES i will go back again..
