Best KPortal Reviews
It wasn't a good experience unfortunately. Very slow to take orders, an age for food to arrive, our starters arrived half an hour after we sat down and the mains another half hour later when we chased. Food was fine in terms if quality but definitely not good value. It's overpriced in my opinion, we didn't have dessert as didn't have time as had a show to get to, but glad as would have broke the bank. £100 on a 'pub dinner' for three and that included only; 2 starters, 3 mains, one glass of wine, one beer and one soft drink.
In terms of ambience, the music was very loud, lights very bright and seats look like you're sitting in oversized pushchairs. Won't go back as much better places to grab a burger nearby.
I have waited for this restaurant to open for a while and was looking forward to visiting.
Unfortunately the speed of service let it down, I can appreciate some of the slowness of service as it is a new restaurant but this is a second establishment so shouldn't have the same teething issues and sadly other patrons were frustrated waiting and left before food arrived and others had it as take away.
Our experience was that drinks took over 30 minutes to arrive and were mixed up originally, they did say they were having a backlog on the bar.
Another issue was the children's burger was not cooked and when pressed had blood, this was resolved but shouldn't have been an issue certainly for children.
I enjoyed the short rib and we were given complementary dessert.
Overall I think the price is a little high for the quality of food, we will try again in 6 months to see if the service has been resolved and will update review.
On a side note I am sceptical of some of the reviews for this restaurant as most 5 star being from single reviewers and look a little 'bought' to help Google ranking.
Yesterday by passing Cranleigh I saw Such a Unique Restaurant Cowboy theme, a small local restaurant its so Cool, So I decided to pop in randomly without booking a table (Thanks God they had space)
So My 5 Star go to MILKSHAKE - Lotus Biscoff Milk Shake such a amazing taste good size I loved it, when you are in jus TRY IT! Huge variety of Food, Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner from sandwiches and Burgers wait Till you see what Steaks Option they have I wont reveal everything I would leave this for your surprise. :D
Also don't forget :D if you ask you can get a Cowboy Hat for free and you can take it home with you, How good is that Tell me about it and wait is not the end.
I had a chance to meet The Owner I felt so special that he approach us and we had a nice conversation a good laugh as well, this place really make you feel great is very charming, cozy.
The waitresses are vey nice, and polite.
Would definitely coming back and I recommend to everyone who lives close by or in surrey go and visit, go and enjoy you time.
I Just find another favorite place in Surrey.
This is the place to go if you're craving an awesome steak or a belly busting burger. Complimentary nachos and salsa to start, but don't overdo it as you'll need room for your meal. Plenty of menu choices for everyone, including vegetarian and vegan options. Beer was good, but cocktail was amazing!
Staff were attentive and friendly. I mentioned in passing to a staff member that it was my wife's birthday, and when delivering desserts they'd put a candle in my wife's and sang happy birthday to her.
Definitely give The Ol West Steakhouse a go. We'll be going back again!
A disappointing experience after much excitement for the restaurant to open.
The restaurant has great western theming and a very large menu, but the quality and portions of food might be it's undoing.
Portion sizes were jaw droppingly small on two of our meals, so much so that all our table reacted when the food arrived. Even the staff must have picked up on our reaction as they brought out more chicken for my friend who had only got 3 small chicken tenders as their main.
I had the £21.95 boneless short ribs. This should probably be called the meatless ribs, 2 mediocre lengths of 80% fat chunks, no marbling that should come with short ribs. The BBQ flavour was good though, chips were nice and the coleslaw tasted identical to a mediocre supermarket coleslaw.
The burgers ordered on our table looked good and the chicken burger had more chicken than the tender meal! Although some of the chicken in the burger did appear slightly pink on the inside, but I think it was cooked through.
They also had the salt and pepper shakers round the wrong way, so someone got a whole load of pepper on their chips. We mentioned this to a member of staff and they just looked confused.
Having just opened, we would have expected the team to be keen for feedback or even to check in on how our food was, but no interest was shown from the staff or the owner, I assume, sitting in the corner with their laptop.
Overall we were impressed by the theming and details, the glasses are pretty unique, but the food really let our visit down and we felt we had gotten very bad value for money.
It has only just opened and I would expect some teething issues but our visit left us with a bad experience. Hopefully others will have better experiences and we can be tempted back in the future.
Where to begin? We really wanted to like this place, support local business, etc. We took it all in good humour because the wait staff were clearly having a 'mare but: what a catastrophe.
There were four tables when we came in. It took the 4 wait staff about 10 mins to notice us. It took over half an hour to get our order (the wait staff seemed to be spending most of the time staring at the kitchen looking extremely stressed out, for reasons that later became clear).
We ordered two beers, to be told they didn't have any. Five minutes later, the table next to us successfully ordered a few beers...although this success was cut short when the beer promptly began leaking out of the novelty bullet glass (pictured) that appeared to have an actual bullet hole in it.
Sadly, it also looked like the paper placemats and napkins were recycled from the previous users.
When the food came...well, you look at the picture and judge whether that's £17-worth of 'juicy buttermilk breaded chicken strips'. All four dishes (priced between £16.90 and £20 each) were burnt/overcooked to a degree with portions akin to those found in a cheap pub. All the chips seemed to have spent a good while soaking in oil rather than frying in it. They didn't bring any coleslaw at all (which was part of the meal price) and the five salad leaves were tasteless and obviously straight from a supermarket bag.
The female toilets weren't cleaned but were otherwise alright. My partner informs me the male toilets were a disgrace, with blueroll stuffed down the back of the radiator being the best part.
For context, they had five tables (four of which were mid-meal when we arrived), four wait staff, and three kitchen staff.
Unfortunately, we won't be going here again and can't recommend it. We laughed about it (the cocktails had a good amount of alcohol in them, which helped) but in these trying times, nobody has endless cash spend on such an appalling outfit.
Not very good for me slow service in a not busy place frozen mushrooms, long wait between them and the mains after asking for it all at once. Nothing gourmet about the chips the have to me look like they run out and went to local supermarket and got frozen chips to serve. Philly cheese sandwich looks a mess no presentation to it sloppy joe would look more appealing. Owner was nice understanding and offered a free desert but won’t be retuning I’m a rush
A big thank you to the staff that served me today, outstanding service and a very delicious burger, chips and salad.
I highly recommend this Ol West for a delicious lunch. Great atmosphere here with the music and interesting shop fitout.
