This is a lovely old house so don’t expect corporate styling like a travelodge. Our room (9) was on the ground floor and overlooked the beautiful garden. We watched squirrels and a variety of birds from the window. The room does need a little bit of refurbishment but nothing that spoiled our stay. The beds were comfy with nice white bedding and good white towels. Plenty of hot water while we were there and nice quality complimentary toiletries. Well stocked hospitality tray with nice biscuits which were replaced when we ate them. The owner is a little quirky but we had a very pleasant conversation with him when we arrived. We were visiting family so didn’t eat at the hotel.
Lovely old house in beautiful grounds. Our room had comfy beds with nice white bedding. Plenty of hot water and big white towels. Complimentary toiletries and good hospitality tray with decent biscuits. All in all a good stay.
Booked and paid for 3 rooms back in August 23 - 1 being a family room for my son his wife and 2 young girls. On arrival we were advised the family room was not available as another family were staying in it but that the girls could have a separate room to their parents. We told the owner this was totally unacceptable even if their room would be next door to the parents . You do not leave young girls on their own in a hotel. In the end my son had to sleep in one room so the girls were in with their mother. No apologies received for this. When I booked the rooms on Booking.com they were stated as being with breakfast included. However the grumpy owner disputed this saying that the template booking.com was using was wrong but they wouldn't change it. So I had to pay for our breakfasts. Again not as advertised, misleading and not acceptable. Booking.com need tom sort this with the owner. The music started late in the bar and was ridiculously loud with my room vibrating. My son's room and his wife & children's room were next door. The children were scared. Lots of doors banging. I had to get dressed and go down to ask him to put it down. My son did likewise. A little later I heard some guests leave the premises and the owner then proceeded to put the music up really loud again. I had to get dressed again and go down to ask why the music was loud if the guests had left. He turned it down. He then proceeded to start clearing up in the bar moving furniture scraping it along the floor & emptying the glass bottles etc in the big bin. Finally he started hoovering. This noise went on until 12.45. The owner had no customer service skills whatsoever & no thought for his clients - I would go so far as to say he didn't care. The rooms were not cheap but were grubby & basic and the whole place needs a complete revamp. The only saving grace was the waiter at breakfast the next morning who was cheerful & helpful and served us a decent breakfast. On our exit we just left the keys on the desk & didn't see the owner again. I would not stay there again and do not recommend The Nylon
Like other reviewers, we arrived in the pitch dark. Fortunately the satnav got us to the exact point or we might have struggled to find it.|There are light pillars along the drive but they were all off.||Reception was unmanned and when we phoned the number left on the desk we were told we'd have to wait ten minutes as he was with somebody else.|When he appeared he couldn't find our booking, despite me having the emailed copy. Somehow he'd put it in for the wrong night. He was duly apologetic, but it wasn't impressive.|My wife suggested we leave there and then and I should have listened to her!|I told her later we would laugh about it in a few years time once the trauma had worn off!||The whole building is very tired. It was clearly a beautiful property once, with lovely gardens - and it could be again but it needs some money spent on it - quite a bit of money.||Our room was ok, but very dated. The rewiring that has been done has been largely through surface mount conduit, which rather detracts from what could be a very splendid room - if the decor and facilities were updated.||The bathroom was also very tired and dated and in need of major update. The shower took about ten minutes to run warm and barely achieved more than a spirited dribble.||Breakfast was ok - the lady serving was very pleasant and helpful. The dining room could be a beautiful room with lovely wood panelling, but it has been somewhat spoilt by the health and safety required features.||At £100 for the night, it was not cheap - so very poor value for money.
Well we enjoyed it-- a little cold at first but the nice lady got us a heater and the room soon warmed up! Looks like it might be a bit hit-and-miss- but you never know until you try how things will turn out. Good breakfast and a comfortable restaurant in which to eat it. We stayed in room #1
Every thing bad! The proprietor constantly played music at an extreme volume, a level at which the floor in our room vibrated. This started when we arrived ( 6pm), although intermittent at first, when we returned from dinner with our relatives (9.30) the music resumed. At 10.30 I went down to the lounge to ask for it to be turned down. I found the owner sat in the dark, alone, playing the music. He asked if it was too loud? Astonished at such a question, as the volume was ear splitting, he turned it down. I'm uncertain if he was burning particularly spicy logs on the fire, however there was a strong aroma consistent with 'herbal' cigarettes! At breakfast we were subjected to a similar volume emanating from the kitchen , this time accompanied by his singalong, the waiter apologised and noted that this was usual at breakfast!.|The Beds ( we required a twin as I am currently undergoing chemo therapy, to which a good night sleep is important) were a match for the décor, at least 30 years old-see photos, every movement resulted in a squeak or graunch from the mattress springs and bed frame, the floor would have been more peaceful and probably more comfortable. The ceiling had multiple cracks, and the smoke alarm flashed brightly all night. On the wall between the beds was some form of clock/radio - a mystery antique to match the curtains.|The full English was provided in a sea of grease, toast arrived cold and the cereal was stale.|We had originally booked for two nights but not willing to suffer a repeat night, checked out right after breakfast. At checkout the proprietor asked if everything had been ok and apologised for the music, by this point I had read the previous reviews of the hotel and realised that this was in fact the norm for this hotel as others had experienced the same disturbing factors. I simply paid and left. I was clearly leaving because of the noise etc but no offer of a reduction was made and so I was charged for both nights.
This is the most revolting hotel I have ever been to. The room stank of cigarettes which was ingrained in the shabby old curtains. No amount of fancy wallpaper will make this place look good. The bathroom was full of mould and the grouting filthy. The windows were running with condensation. We booked for two nights but didn’t stay at all as the mould, damp and smell of cigarettes set off my husband’s asthma. The owner is unbelievably rude and misogynistic and wouldn’t return our money. Please avoid this place at all costs
Really enjoyed our stay here, there were seven of us here for the weekend. It’s a lovely old building so if you’re expecting Travelodge style rooms you’ll be disappointed. The breakfast was particularly good, great choice of fruit and freshly prepared dishes including omelettes, smoked haddock plus a very good full English. Friendly, helpful staff, we’ll stay here again.
