???? The Nook ????
Went here late night for a juicy Lucy and some fries!
It was quite good. The burger we had (#7) was good for the patty, but the toppings we had were pretty low quality.
The fries and curds were all decent but nothing out of this world.
The vibes and atmosphere were 10/10 - super classic and old school.
Old-fashioned and snug space, but upbeat and fun. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Food was half and half. The Nook Curds are top notch and unique. Good onion rings. The sliders were thin burgers on a full size hamburger bun....not what was expected but still pretty good. Kids mac and cheese was not great, but it's kids mac and cheese. Natural cut fries made in-house were great!
The basement is so cool. Very old bowling alley where you have to actually keep score on paper...you don't see that anymore.
Had a great time at The Nook! We really enjoyed the Nook Curds and my friends claim this as the BEST juicy Lucy joint in the twin cities! I opted for the Ty’s Chilli Burger and was very happy with my choice! All around fun vibe, good food, and the perfect hole in the wall spot to bring your people!
This is a tint hole in the wall, so if you want to dine in be prepared to wait or come in at off times to be able to do so. The cheese curds are to die for so don't sleep on them! They are doused in honey and it is oh so good! They have daily deals and monthly specials so check those out too for something alittle different! Perfect for a casual meal with anyone who loves a good burger with a beer.
Cool atmosphere. Bowling alley in the basement is pretty neat. Server was great, courteous and attentive.
The food.. Got some wings and tried the Juicy Lucy. The wings are legit. The MN Wild Wild Wings are fantastic. Cooked great with crispy skin yet juicy inside. Found the wings to be average size, which was fine. Also got the Juicy Nookie Burger. It was OK for my preference. Very filling and huge burger. Stuffed with copious amounts of cheese that is like a bowl of cheese soup inside. The patty lacked seasoning and char. I much more prefer the original Jucy Lucy from Matt's. But others prefer this incarnation, so to each their own.
Overall, I would come back when in the area. I would get the wings again, but if I get a burger, I'll stick to the classic cheeseburgers.
The staff here is brilliant, great vibes all around. The food is also really good, I got the burger with a bourbon sauce and it was pretty good, not a very complex flavor though and it was VERY sticky. Ate the whole thing still because that's still a very good burger. The fries were on point and great crisp, as were the onion rings. The cheese curds had great flavor, the ranch was a little rich for me and the cheese curds were little under done for my liking, but the flavors were all there
The best Jucy Lucy I've had. The fried pickle chips were excellent. The wings were fried too perfection and the garlic sauce we had with them was so delicious. Our server was great. We never wanted for anything. The whole staff looks out for each other and the guests. Return trips are a must.
So good! The best burger, fries and wings in St. Paul! Plus draft beer on tap - okay. Also, rent the bowling alley for your 40th birthday like my friend Brian.
