Best KPortal Reviews

We go to Cheddar Gorge every year (sometimes twice a year) and our first port of call is The Mousehole cafe! The quality of the food is fantastic and a real decent portion too. The staff are always happy, bubbly and positive and ready to help and I would highly recommend a trip to this cafe! I cannot wait to return!
It's surprisingly difficult to get a good scone these days but the one I had here was soft, fresh, fruity and plump. Bloomin lovely. Great tea too. A lovely quiet place to escape the crowds.
Very friendly and accommodating of our gluten free requirements. We had a lovely afternoon tea and the kids loved theirs too! Would def come again. The rating would be 4.5 if I could, the Brownie was not quite as good as others but everything else tasted great!
Visited here last week. It is a very tidy place and all the staff were very friendly. The food was spot on. I got a ploughman's sandwich which came with plenty of sides on the plate. My partner got a gluten free ham and cheese sandwich which was also beautiful.
The prices were also fair. The atmosphere was friendly.
I was surprised to read that some people weren't happy with the visit here because my visit was pleasant and I will definitely be returning if I go to the area again. I'm glad we chose to eat here .
Doing a gluten free menu is a must for my partner as she has coeliac disease so it's important that where we eat takes care when preparing the food. I can assure everyone we didn't have any problems here so that's worth noting too.
Came here on a bike ride as a group of 3, we parked our bikes behind the cafe which was good. Waitresses were friendly and helpful and we had nice food and drinks (I had bacon and egg sandwiches and hash browns). Service was quick and it was very good value. This is my new favourite cafe in Cheddar!
Lovely cream tea, best scone I've had in a long time.
Went in today with a group, asked the brown haired waitress behind the counter how long the wait for food was, she checked with the kitchen and said 20 minutes maximum. I had a quick look to make sure there were enough tables for us, which there were, so I called the rest of the group in from outside. In the meantime a different waitress with long black hair asked my friend how many of us there were and my friend said 14, at which point (without even looking) the waitress said “we ain’t got 14.”
I politely said that I’d already checked and there were enough seats and we didn’t all need to be at the same one table, at which point she scowled and marched behind the counter to the till and turned her back on us. We all just stood there feeling really awkward, not knowing what was going on, so I apologised and said “I’m sorry, I feel like I’ve upset you?”
She kinda whipped her head around and snapped “no it’s fine” and then turned back to the till. Again we all just stood there feeling extremely awkward, and then the original staff member with the lighter brown hair (who was very friendly and polite) showed us through to the tables.
Black haired rude waitress followed her through and told us all that the wait for food was 45 minutes… despite the fact we’d just been told by the kitchen that it was only 20 minutes maximum…
We sat down and waited for someone to come take our order but everyone felt so uncomfortable with the rude behaviour of the waitress that half our group just left and went to the chip shop next door, so the cafe lost out on a lot of money.
The rest of us stayed because it was one of our group’s birthdays and we’d planned to order some cake and asked the staff to put a candle in it so we could sing happy birthday to him (which we ended up deciding not to do because we were made to feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable). We ordered pasties and vegan pasties which we were then told there were none of, so we had to switch our orders.
Food was ok, but would absolutely never return, due to the disgusting behaviour of the black haired waitress, who remained rude and unfriendly when she took our orders and brought out the food and scowled throughout.
Genuinely shocked about how badly we were treated by her. The lighter browned haired waitress was very lovely, smiley, and polite.
Met by a sour faced teenage girl who showed us to our table. Ordered food and drinks from another member of staff. Brought two dirty glasses, so politely asked for one replacement and brought another dirty glass, asked for another one, and was given another one even dirtier with food on it and fingerprints. Asked for two straws instead..
Food arrived, and the fish fingers were not fish fingers but battered nugget things.
All the staff were young kids stood about chatting. Shame as the cafe was a nice little place, and I'm sure that on a different day with different staff (or someone keeping an eye on what's going on), it would hopefully be different.
