Good old fashioned family run English pub. Log burner, real beer, accommodation and a fab choice of homemade food on the menu. This was the second time we've stayed, even better this time. It's a working pub, so don't expect frills, there's dogs and prams in the bar and it's real! Not contrived decor. We love a fire, locals and muddy boots. Our room was very warm, very comfortable and very clean. Our dinner was deeeelish. Thank you to everyone at The Lord Nelson, we'll be back.
The room was amazing, it was clean and had everything we needed and even better it's all ground level so wheelchair friendly. The food was amazing and the chef went above and beyond for our fussy children.... and the whole team were wonderful.... super friendly locals... highly recommend staying here
A cold, dark place but with outstanding food! Freezing cold inside, so wrap up warm, but do not miss the beef pies, they're delicious, packed with meat and served piping hot!
Stayed here over night on the way to collecting our new puppy. The pub is really very nice and quaint.
The selection of beers is great and they do a mean Guinness.
We had fish and chips for an evening meal and it was very tasty. The fish batter was lovely but a bit too cridou for me, great tasting dinner.
The staff we're extremely polite and attentive at all times. Very friendly too.
We stayed in room 2 which was comfortable but it does need a bit of an update as the walls have the paper falling off in places and the bathroom needs updating.
For the money, it's not bad at all.
They have some very nice looking stable bedrooms which look lovely but are probably more expensive.
Our breakfast was very nice.
Wouldn't mind staying here again but probably on the stables next time.
Had an excellent stay at The Lord Nelson. The staff and management are very friendly and keen to ensure everything was good for us. Food was lovely. We stayed in one of the stable block rooms and with having 2 of my dogs with me, it was absolutely perfect. Room was clean and comfortable with plenty of refreshments available. The radiator was switched on before I entered the room, however it hadn't heated up. This was addressed immediately and the room was warm in no time. Good ensuite facilities. Totally pet friendly. Couldn't fault our stay. Awesome.
Food not nice bed uncomfortable room not good found bar grubby could de with a revamp but landlord very helpful and a nice chap
We used the Lord Nelson again to facilitate a family gathering in Sutton on Trent. Everyone had a wonderful time. The rooms at the pub are clean and extremely comfortable and very reasonably priced!|Breakfast is always a hit and enjoyed by all.|Thoroughly recommended.
Absolutely outstanding, just spent two nights here with my partner and can't speak highly enough of the Lord Nelson. Rooms are spotlessly clean, staff are amazing and so friendly, food in the restaurant is fantastic and the breakfast is superb. We will definitely be back.
