Easy parking and disabled parking near the door, doorways maybe just a bit tight. Obviously it will be built to code, but the location or layout of obstacles make it tight. This is a great quick overnight stop. Good clean rooms with comfy beds. It’s a quiet area away from traffic noise which helps get a refreshing sleep.
Small cafe good food served quickly by friendly staff.
Sorry to say that I have never had a decent experience of using this service area. The building is old and shabby and the facilities are moderate at best. Staff are often performing many roles so service is generally very slow and certainly not with a smile. I've stopped using the main services and I now go round the corner to McDonald's.
Stopped off when travelling home from what seemed like an endless journey and staff were very polite and helpful and allowed us to use the baby change in the hotel to change our baby. It was clean and tidy and very welcoming. Thank you.
Great place to stop for a break on A1. I stop every time on the way to Scotland and back. You can have a coffee and quick snack without paying services price. It's the last stop before the scotch corner. McDonald and fuel, all you need when you travel
Good food served in the restaurant, the staff are great. Only three star's due to the room I stayed in(This was a good couple of years ago), being very out date's and a bit run down. For all I know the room's may have been refurbished now.
Not up to the usual standard I usually stop off at whilst travelling. In the middle of nowhere too. Noisy McDonald's right behind. Just not a great experience from start to finish. Plus there was clear evidence of semen in my bed.
For £40 at a hotel services, what do you want?
- comfy bed, tick
- food, tick there's a Costa and McDs
- clean room, tick
- hot shower, tick
- quiet sleep...half tick. Annoyingly, the A1M was silent as the services and hotel are tucked away, but all night we had boy racers wheel spinning around car parks....some more speed ramps would help.
My only other suggestion, would be black out curtains...I had a large LED outside my room (like a floodlight one to light the wall signage for passing motorists)...this did make Room 6 glow even with the curtains drawn
Having said that, I slept fine, just knocks the 5 stars to 4.
A shameful example of British motorway services. A shabby old motel with ill fitting windows leaking bathroom fitments and no services, all for a ridiculous price. The staff appear to do their best but this place reeks of under ( no ) investment.
