Best KPortal Reviews
Cooks little spot, not great parking so take an Uber or lift to get her so you can have a drink as well. The atmosphere is pretty cool, open the kitchen so you can see the food being cooked to order. There is space for outside eating as well, it was raining (go figure) so we are inside. The price is to be expected in the area but I feel the quality meets the pricing here, the burger we had "The Lovett", hack tip take out the mustered and have the jalapeno jelly and it makes the burgers pop. Get the cheese balls but use the fry sauce instead of the marinara, not saying the marinara is bad but the fry sauce is that much better with these as a package. They do have soft drinks and bottles of soda. The Cajun fries hit real nice with the Fry sauce. Overall a great spot, other types of food pretty close to each other on one block so you can have options but for burgers this was a pretty good hit. The kids had a regular cheese burger and they really said it was great all the way around. Total for our burger, two cheese burgers for the kids with fries for two of them and the wife and I to share, and a whole meal for my father to go also including fries and the same The Lovett burger and two bottles of cream soda was $81 without tip. Full transparency, we can't eat in the Portland area for under $100 normally, unless it's fast food.
If you want a genuinely good burger I highly reccomend coming here. I am never disappointed by the quality of the food that they produce. It is a constant hit, and its great to get this experience while shopping local. Do be prepared to spend a little more money than average for the burger, but a WAY higher than average quality.
I personally reccomend getting the pendleton burger and the cow fries! Best fries in town by far
I took my kids on a Sunday. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My boy and I got cheeseburgers and my girl got the grilled cheese. We had the Cajun, regular, and cow fries. Also we shared the cheese balls.
The burgers were very tasty and perfectly cooked. The cow fries were good but not my favorite. Nothing wrong with them but I just wasn’t into them. The Cajun and regular fries were great though. My daughter loved the grilled cheese. We all liked the cheese balls too. That marinara they serve it with was some of the best I’ve ever had.
As far as negatives I didn’t like that they don’t seem to have a website outside of a Facebook page so I was unable to see the menu easily. My daughter doesn’t like burgers and I wasn’t sure what else they had but we took the risk. The local cow has a kids menu with hot dogs and grilled cheese options. I added the pics for that.
The price was reasonable but I think the burgers were a tad on the small side. I would probably get a double patty next time. Don’t get me wrong, the kids were full but I would like a bit larger of a burger.
If I had to compare it to another place I’d say it’s like a local mom and pop version of killer burger.
Definitely give them a try!
Edit: went back again a few weeks later. I got a double patty burger and it was massive. I swear the patties were larger this time. My wife had the taco salad and said it was one of the best she’d ever had. Fries, burgers, and grilled cheese were on point. Staff was super friendly and quick.
This was by far the best hamburger I have ever had! I cannot remember the name of my hamburger but it is the one with jalapeño jelly and cream cheese spread. Fries are good too! It is a must have if you are wanting a good hamburger ????!
Burgers were done well. Good overall flavor, French fries are hand made but they had definitely been over cooked. Which is ridiculous after taking all that time to make properly. Cow fries had too much garlic IMO. Cheese balls were okay. not what we were expecting. Kinda a sweet/Cream cheese flavor on the aftertaste.
The food was good. Waitstaff were very attentive. We upgraded the side to garlic frys. Try the fry sauce, it's actually good. I had the Jala-Moo-ya, it isn't spicy at all. 2nd meal was Hawaii 503. Both are great choices.
This was our first visit since the pandemic, and we were once again very pleased with the food, service, and overall atmosphere. We were also very happy to see that the pandemic didn't kill such a great spot for some delicious food and beer. Our server was absolutely fantastic! She was very friendly, smiling, and willing to help us get whatever we needed in a very efficient manner.
I don't usually get to try things more expensive than fast food, but I'm glad I decided to stop by. After playing Pokemon go for hours downtown the food really hit the spot!
Both times I visited have been great. The staff are so welcoming and kind, and really make you feel at home. Just really good people. Makes me look forward to coming by.
Ordering takeout is easy- you're given a buzzer you can take outside, takes the stress out of checking in on your order, you'll know when it's ready.
Food is amazing. Burgers are good sized and loaded with their toppings, patties are tender and juicy, you can really taste how fresh the meat is (and sustainable too!) Cajun fries are great, they're really well reasoned and NOT so salted that it overwhelms the spice, I loved the balance in flavor.
Their fried pickles are spears instead of the regular round slices, and that's gotta be the best idea ever. You get to bite into an entire fried spear of pickle. And with the portion size I'm pretty sure i got darn near the whole jar! Seasoning on the breading was so good, and the whole thing paired amazingly with their fry sauce, which has to be the most richly flavorful fry sauce I've had.
At first I was disappointed they don't have a burger with the "basic" collection of toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickle, etc) though they do have a build-your-own with their other high quality ingredients. But I know it's only an issue for me because I'm boring and always go for samey stuff most burger places offer by default. But that just means coming here made me try new things I learned I enjoy instead, with much more flavorful combinations.
If you're willing to pay a little more for quality and sustainability, and you want to try something more than just basic, you'll love it here. I'm definitely going to keep coming back at least once a month.
