We dined here at the Lobster Pot 3 times while in Provincetown. The food was great, even though the place is packed, the food comes out very quickly, the service staff were all very friendly. None of our nights however were as good as our last night, when we were gifted Floyd as our server. Thanks Floyd for being so good with our children, and making our last night in P-Town a memorable one.
First of all, this spot has the BEST lobster roll I’ve ever had, let alone in cape cod! This place is definitely bustling and busy so I’d recommend visiting for lunch or during the slow season to snag a table! We visited on a Sunday in April for lunch and had no problem being seated by their kind staff!
The food was stellar and our waiter was incredibly funny and kind! We also really enjoyed the clam chowder and the fries were the perfect amount of crispyness! Definitely prefer the New England Style Lobster Rolls but am sure you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! Even for those who aren’t big seafood fans, their pasta pesto was amazing!
This was our first time eating here, and we sat at the bar. The bartenders were very attentive and knowledgeable in their craft, and we enjoyed nice cocktails. Also had a couple of small bites and the food was awesome. This is a great establishment right in the heart of downtown Provincetown. It's a must stop if you're walking through the area.
We brought a friend here on Saturday evening for dinner to celebrate her birthday.
We couldn't have chosen a better place!
Initially, we were given a 30-40 minute wait time by the door attendant; she sent me to the hostess to put my name in, and we ended up being seated in about 10 minutes. (I have to note that all three women at the door and hostess stand were so friendly and well-organized!)
We were seated upstairs by Shawn, who ended up being a bright spot in the evening's experience. Talk about someone who is doing what he was meant to be doing! We could tell he loves what he does, and he is very knowledgeable about the entire menu. Shawn has the best personality for greeting diners and making them feel welcomed and valued! He chatted us up and made some great recommendations while we waited for our server to come over. Our server was Pete. He, too, did a great job. He was attentive without being overbearing, and he had a friendly demeanor.
We ordered great cocktails: the watermelon mojito (which came with a generous sprig of fresh mint and a watermelon wedge garnish), a watermelon rum punch, and a spicy mango fizz (which has mottled mango and fresh sliced jalepeno).
Our appetizers were Scallops au Gratin (which was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and would be something we'd definitely order again) and the -recommended by Shawn- Oysters Rockefeller (which were smooth, creamy, and delicious.) One of us also got the house salad, which is topped with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, sprouts, and their famous house dressing. This "side salad" is big, so it's easy to share with the table.
Our entrees were: Seafood Orichette (Orichette pasta which was cooked perfectly, and topped with ample amounts of delicious lobster, shrimp, scallops, and sauce Newburg), Baked Stuffed Chicken (chicken breast with Ritz cracker stuffing, topped with Bordelaise sauce), and the Portugese Fish (a beautiful, huge portion of perfectly cooked cod crusted with linguica then stuffed with sauteed onions and celery which were blended with Ritz cracker stuffing, scallops, and shrimp. It was baked in a flavorful sauce of tomato and onion. Highly recommend!).
The only item that was unremarkable was the orzo served as the side for the Baked Chicken and Portugese Fish. While it was perfect texturally, it was bland flavor wise, which was disappointing, considering how flavorful and harmonious every other item we'd dined on during this meal had been.
Since we'd let Shawn and Pete know that we were celebrating a birthday, at the end of dinner, they brought out a delectable slice of warm chocolate cake, drizzled in a warm chocolate sauce, topped with whipped cream. They led a boisterous serenade of the birthday song and absolutely made our friend feel special!
The Lobster Pot is definitely a don't-miss place to dine in Provincetown! (They do have an express takeout only location a few blocks from this one, and there is a location in Eastham, too, that is probably just as delicious, but you likely don't get the joy of dining with Shawn as entertainment. ????
This was a great place to get that Cape Cod seafood fix. The building and layout was odd, as expected for the area, but the staff acted as it was a 5 star restaurant. Great customer service. Our waiter was pleasant and very quick. My GF got a clam chowder bowl that they thought was great and I got the lobster ravioli alfredo, which I was in love with. The views from the dinning room were cool. They had a bunch of fun cocktails on the menu. I was there “off season” and it was pretty busy so I can imagine it’s very crowded during the summer.
5 Stars. Must Visit.
So, everyone raves about the food here and there's a reason. It's difficult to please me, my husband, and our picky eater son, but we were all happy with our meal.
The thing people don't mention is the staff. This was by far the kindest staff around. They made us feel at home. My son said our server helped him choose the way one of his aunties would. That melted my heart.
We're definitely going back!
Where to even start? This is a fantastic restaurant! My Girlfriend and I were in the region visiting friends and stopped here to have dinner. The Food is exquisite. The service was outstanding and hospitable, making for a premium dining experience. This is an absolute must if you’re in the area! Be prepared for a hefty bill, but this is a great representation of “you get what you pay for”
Happy opening day! We could not have done better. It was my first time eating upstairs and the view was terrific. Todd was amazing. Thank you for sharing a little of your story. The Portuguese Fish is an award winner. Please note: leave room for it, it’s a lot of food.
