We received a very warm welcome at this charming hotel. The staff were very kind and friendly. Our rooms were spotless, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. An excellent shower and nice complimentary toiletries. The food was excellent - a nice range of options for dinner and a delicious full Staffordshire breakfast. There's also an excellent gin menu! We'd definitely recommend it.
We stayed here for one night as we'd arranged to visit family, close by, on a flying visit. First impressions were really good. Helpful reception desk, efficient check in and directions to the named rooms provided. |It's an old building so expect uneven and steep stairs to the bedrooms. The second hald set of stairs (Leading to Coven, Lapley etc) has 4 additional stairs to climb. But watch out, the second step up is virtually non existent amd your foot goes through the step. (It appears to have been like this a while as its referred to in a review from April 23.) It's certainly a hazard. Steep, I can cope with but damaged is unforgivable and lazy on the owners part.||The room, (Lapley) was cosy but adequate for the time we were staying. Although, modern and very clean, it's a little dated around the edges and needs attention in places. Such as the carpets preventing the bathroom door from fully closing, the very slow draining shower tray (overflowing after 2 minutes) the bouncy loose floor tiles were the issues in the bathroom. The bedroom, I liked apart from the springs making a racket every time you moved in bed and turned over. The mattress appeared to sink to the middle.||We'd think twice about booking for a second time. Sorry, but the maintenance of the rooms and corridors really let the place down. ||We didn't eat in the restaurant but it appeared busy.
Lovely little place, with a lovely busy bar & restaurant attached. Rooms are on small side, but adequate enough, quiet and comfortable and nice touches.|Duty manager (Rich?) was very pleasant and really helpful (Even kindly got me a coffee the next morning when I'd missed breakfast)|Definitely recommend for a short stay.
Stayed here overnight before a family wedding recently. I cannot say how much we enjoyed our time here! The staff were fantastic & incredibly friendly, food was amazing & our room was so cosy & comfortable. The breakfast the morning we left was superb! Thanks so much! Must also say that the village was beautifully lit up for Christmas. Well worth a visit/stay if you are in the area, would have loved to have stayed longer!
Booked a meal & overnight stay for hubby's birthday. We had a lovely meal, followed by some cocktails then a short walk upstairs to our room.
Pleasant staff, great food n a nice relaxing night followed by a yummy breakfast in the morning. ????
The Staff was excellent and very attentive! Rich the manager, Allison (with our morning cafe Americano at the ready) Billy the bartender (Wonderful Black Russian) Oscar (aka Oliver) and the hardest working women in Brewood Georgia made our stay amazing! Highly recommend staying at the lion. The food at the Staffordshire Grille was among the best we had in the area. Thank you all for making my wife and I feel like family!
Last minute booking, upgraded the room when we arrived. Room was cosy and had a lovely view of the beautifullly decorated village centre. Staff lovely and breakfast was superb. Dog friendly, he even got his own sausage for breakfast.
Stop here for the night on our way to the Lake District, what a lovely stay. All the staff were fantastic, welcoming, friendly and attentive. The rooms are comfortable, clean, modern with a country feel, love it.||Dinner at the restaurant was beautiful and we will definitely be going back.
