The hotel and grounds are stunning and very nice. Our room was clean and we had a nice view of the canal. The hotel staff were very helpful and nice as well.
The restaurant service was extremely slow though. We would go up to the bar and have to wait 10-15 minutes for drinks. I would have thought they would staff the bar a little better to avoid this issue.
I booked the sauna for my SO and her friends. It included a 20% auto gratuity. When they went they said the lady at the spa asked one of the friends who has been there before if she could show them around instead of herself. Then during the sauna they ran out of water and the girl said she would get them more but never returned. Doesn’t feel like the gratuity matches up to the actual experience.
On the surface, the Lake House is nice and looks world class. However, for the premium price the experience didn’t match the cost.
We came to The Lake House to watch the eclipse. We stayed for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The hotel is lovely. It has a lovely heated outdoor pool and whirlpool, as well as complimentary yoga, meditation and stretch classes. Everything was wonderful and not at all crowded. We were very impressed with the warmth and professionalism of the staff, the food in the Sandbar and the great cocktails. Our only suggestion is that the hotel reconsider some of its rather odd pricing policies, such as charging for morning coffee. At a hotel of this category, that is usually complimentary.
Beautiful hotel with a very upscale vibe. We were upgraded to a canal view room, which was lovely. Beautiful room, beautiful bathroom, beautiful location. The beds are extremely comfortable, with luxurious linens. The only thing: obviously the designer won the battle on seating. The chairs look chic, but they are just plain uncomfortable! I'd rather be comfortable than cool. A magnifying mirror would have been nice. Still, I'm giving it a 5.
My cousin and I came here for a night to celebrate my birthday and a night away for Mother’s Day. Around 11pm, my cousin noticed little bugs, dead and alive, in her bed and flying around her bed. Upon further inspection, we noticed there were probably 100 of them on our ceiling. We called the front desk who sent maintenance up with a vacuum to get rid of them, but there were so many that it was impossible for him to get them all. After he was finished we went down to the front desk and asked for a new room. They told us (on a Monday night in May) that they were completely booked. They offered us a PORTION of a credit towards our breakfast the next morning, or to travel home (at midnight) and get a CREDIT towards another night. I have tried emailing them on Tuesday, it’s now Friday and there is still no response. My husband reached out by phone yesterday, explained everything that happened, and they told him the manager would call him back. It’s now been over 24 hours with no returned phone call. To charge this much for a night, you would think your service would be impeccable. We understand we were by a lake and things happen, but it’s the customer service that is so disappointing. Because of that, I will never return to this location.
Upon arriving at 6pm on Friday I was informed that my room wasn’t ready and they didn’t have an estimate of when it would be ready “because housekeeping just kind of moves around”. After several more rounds of questions and insistence, I was offered an alternative room.
The room was nice and as expected upon checkin.
However, once using the room, the shower didn’t drain quickly enough to keep up and the sink drained so slowly the water needed to be turned off while brushing your teeth.
Housekeeping wasn’t provided on Saturday or Sunday. I was informed this was because of “staffing levels”. However there couldn’t have been more than 30 cars in the parking lot Sunday night, leading me to believe it’s a management issue, not staffing levels.
Overall, the hotel is “fine” to below average. But certainly not the “luxury resort” they represent themselves to be.
My husband and I stayed here off-season 1/31-2/2/24. We checked in with Alantra who was friendly, explained everything in detail and even upgraded us from a King Woodview to King Lakefront (only downside to Room 307 is that it’s right by elevator and ice machine, so if noises bother you, this room isn’t for you). All other staff were always friendly and willing to help us with anything we needed. The room was beautiful and balcony was huge. The public areas were also beautiful and we loved playing the table shuffleboard and several board games in the library. One night we enjoyed sitting at the bar in the Rose Tavern and enjoyed a scrumptious espresso martini and charcuterie board. The woman bartender was very personable and made excellent drinks. Two of the drinks were complimentary with our Warm Up to Winter package. We ate lunches and dinners offsite, but close by and will review separately and all were very good and would recommend— walkable was Mutphy’Law Tavern and Nolan’s Steakhouse and 2-3 miles away was Twisted Rail Brewery. We look forward to a return trip as there are many things to do.
This is one of the most beautiful resorts I have stayed at. The rooms, the common spaces, the exterior, the restaurants - all 10/10. The service was great for the most part, though some of the service in the Library lounge was a bit poor. But overall, I would absolutely come back here. The only thing to note is that the resort is a bit of a drive to the wineries - which is actually a lovely drive on a nice day!
My wife and I spent Thanksgiving weekend at the Lake House and we are still reminiscing about the wonderful experience months later. We loved the buffet on Thanksgiving in the barn on our first day which set a great tone for the rest of our time there. The most heartwarming part of the stay was the staff - especially the waitresses who we got to know at the barn, at the Sand Bar and Rose Tavern. Food was top notch but the service was beyond. We also loved meeting the horticulturalist who worked magic transitioning from fall to Christmas overnight. The room was absolutely gorgeous. We splurged on a lake view and it was worth it. The amenities were special and the furniture and art was inspiring. The bed is hand carved wood by an artist who designed all the furnishings as well as the chandelier in the lobby. It is expensive but something we want to save up for to return again. We liked the quiet vibe of the off season with less people (it was still lively). The on-site restaurants are superb and we also enjoyed some local spots in town which was very close by. Highly recommended for a couples getaway! Thanks to the staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Everyone from the house keeping staff to the folks at the spa were warm and friendly. We got massages and did the outdoor sauna - both were memorable and worth every penny. The relaxation room at the spa was so special. Overall, great time and can’t wait to go back!
