What an incredible dining experience at The Kitchen Bistro! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The food was simply outstanding, bursting with flavor and presented beautifully. Our server, Daniel, aka 'Goose', went above and beyond to ensure our meal was nothing short of perfect. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor made us feel truly valued as guests. And let's talk about the view – breathtaking! Overlooking the Chicago River added an extra touch of magic to an already delightful evening. Five stars all around for The Kitchen Bistro – we'll definitely be back for more!
What a fantastic spot right on the river walk. The food was exceptional. The roasted carrots I could eat a million times over, absolutely incredible!
The smashed pineapple mock tail is a lovely treat too!
We went here for Saint Patrick’s day brunch. Both of our meals were a little lack luster. The fish and chips was over battered and the corned beef hash was lacking in flavor. The presentation was well done and the atmosphere was very beautiful. I think this would be a great spot for large group parties and a night out for drinks. Otherwise, the food was not extraordinary.
Restaurant Week 2024:
My partner and I came here for restaurant week, $59 dinner. We didn't have issues getting a reservation with 1 week in advance.
We ordered pretty much everything from the menu between the two of us except the pork tenderloin. I'm not the best with pictures, but hopefully these help you decide what to pick!
We enjoyed our 2h dinner a lot and would definitely be back. After trying most options, these were our picks:
- 1st: lamb tartare (very well spiced)> tiradito (very small portion)
- 2nd: tomato soup (so flavorful and delicious) > black Caesar
- 3rd: gnocchetti > tagliatelle
- 4th: sea bass (only available during restaurant week and not available on their main menu, it's delicious) > denver steak
- 5th: mousse dome (reconstructed sneakers bar, great option if you like peanut butter/chocolate) < chevre cheesecake
Our favorites were the sea bass and lamb tartare.
The food and ambiance at The Kitchen were great. We enjoyed the oysters and a recommendation from our server to try an espresso martini with Tequila in place of vodka.
Kai the bartender served a great old fashioned and gave me an excellent recommendation for New York strip . I had the oyster Rockefeller for apitizer which was great . The Brandy old fashioned paired well .
Great views! Our server was very nice and but not very attentive. Drinks were empty most of the time and when she did bring me another mimosa it was 1/4 of the way full as the first one she brought. One of the people at the table with us had been sipping hers for a while and we noticed hers was still double what she brought out on my fresh one. We got steak and eggs and the meat was charred to the max, almost unable to be eaten. The breakfast potatoes were really really good. We also got our eggs cooked the wrong way. I got some new eggs but didn’t feel comfortable bringing anything else to her attention. I do believe she was new as she didn’t know some questions we had on the menu which was totally fine and understandable. I tried a sip of the Bloody Mary and it was phenomenal, unique, but one of best ones I’ve ever tried!
I loved the combination of a great river view and chicken sandwich.
Just a heads up, there were small mosquitoes everywhere in my drink and the food. I guess that's normal price to pay for the view on a summer day. The restaurant can improve by adding an AC for the terrace. It was too warm if ypu were not under the shade.
