Took over by new management recently and has been vastly improved. Lovely family run pub for family’s, great place to go and rooms are great aswell . Big beer garden and free parking , pints are chilled to perfection. My family love it here now . Has event nights aswell
new landlord is brilliant! always going the extra mile to make sure everyone is looked after. lovely atmosphere, great service, pub is always kept clean and tidy. will definitely be coming back!!!!!
Our booking was made in January. We arrived at the hotel, which had taken full payment two days previously, to find it locked up and abandoned. Phone number was invalid. We had no choice but to spend the evening finding alternative, and, since it was school holidays, expensive accommodation. Attempts made since by us and by Booking.com to recover our payment have failed. Disgraceful.
Arrived at 6pm on my partners birthday with a pre paid booking to find the place completely closed. Banging on all the doors elicited no response and the telephone number provided was disconnected. Put a message on Booking.com chat which is still not answered a week later. Lucky to find somewhere else to stay
We popped in for a drink and a bite to eat just before Christmas. Two of us and our dog, we were made to feel extremely welcome and the atmosphere was very friendly all round. The food was good, honest pub grub and very reasonably priced. A proper 'local' ????
Not somewhere I would stay again. Tom (The manager) tried his best to make us feel welcome and keep everything running but his chef left the week before we arrived so there were no evening meals or cooked breakfast available. The pub is run down. The rooms are old fashioned and smelled musty. They were not the cleanest either. Things were missing, broken etc and the tea bags looked like they had been their for months. They didn't service the rooms very well, we had to ask them to empty our bins twice and replenish the milk, coffee and sugar in the rooms. Breakfast on the first day was booked for 9:30am but no one was even up. I had to phone the pub in order to alert someone that we were waiting. I'm afraid its a dying or dead place. Won't be around for long.
Bed comfy, room clean, but that's it. All downhill from here I'm afraid. Room was sold to me as an en suite, but shower and toilet are in the corridor, not the room. No cold water from the sink, cant get the kettle under the other tap that worked! Pub smells of smoke and has an overall grubby feel to it. Very limited food choice and very poor breakfast. Think I'd prefer the 3 hour drive home, than stay next time!
