A really warm welcome. Both at the bar and at breakfast. The rooms were well made up and the bedding felt as fresh as you could get. Bathroom/shower were spotless. Comments about it being dated means that you are probably only used to modern hotels. This place is real. It is interesting. It has character. The full breakfast hit the spot too. Due to the unusually high tempratures I could have done with an opening window. I may have been up for a funeral but the stay was great.

Had a gorgeous stay at The Johnson Arms Hotel. Staff are super friendly. Really near Alva Glen which is a beautiful walk. Lovely locals in the pub. The room was big and newly decorated, plenty of character.
I stayed for 2 nights. Room only so I can’t comment on the food. The room was clean and well laid out. The owners/staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful. I would stay again when visiting family, though the hotel is well situated for local places of interest for tourists.
The hotel is in the centre of the lovely little town of Alva. When staying here You are close to meny historicaly important sights in Scotland. Here you are well positioned for day trips to places like Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, St Andrews and Glasgow. The hotel staff are verry friendly and accommodating. The locals in the pub are happy to share information and stories about local sights. Great hiking paths up along Alva Glen behind the hotel. Plenty of golf courses nearby. Just remember to reserve a room with shower.
Room tidy, clean and comfortable although needs modernising. Lovely stay over night, delicious full cooked breakfast and cereals offered. Staff could not have been more welcoming.

Popped in last night with hubby,son and partner,we were staying overnight in a hotel a few miles away and decided to go into the town for a drink,so glad we did.The staff,regulars and everyone were so friendly and welcoming.Decided to call it a night about 12ish but could,nt get a taxi,to our much surprise and delight,Katrina,lovely lady and owner offerred to take us back to our hotel,lovely gesture and made our night,thanks again Katrina for your kind offer,I would still be walking now if you had,nt been so kind,we will certainly be back in the future.
