I enjoyed a nice date here with my hubby. The food was amazing. I am always skeptical when it comes to my Arroz con gandules (rice w/pigeon peas) but they did not disappoint. Everything was delicious. The presentation was nice they had heart shape jibaritos for Valentine's day. I absolutely loved it and would definitely come here again!
First time having puerto rican food wanted to try something new the food was delicious highly recommend the staff is very nice will definitely go back
So where do I start for over all experience. Let's start with the good and end with the bad.
Walked in and atmosphere was good salsa music playing, wanted to start dancing, great pr decors on the wall, domino tables outside. To get service you order at the register and they give u a number and bring food out to you. I don't like that, I like full table service like a waiter or waitress. We ordered a mix of appetizers, jibarito sandwich with white rice and habichelas. All the food had the same taste, which tells me they were cooked in the same old oil. I've had worst but I have had better.
I think I would give them one more try when in the area to see if it was just a bad day for them or if this place is truly bad.
Food was delicious. Very portion size. Will definitely be a returning customer for sure
The place was very clean and the food tasted good. The only thing I didn't like was that themofongo didn't look so small that I asked the girl where my mofongo was and it was under 3 pieces of steat and the plates. They are like wood and fit into a fork and the passion fruit juice tasted like a condiment but the rest was very good.
This is a solid counter-order spot on Pilsen’s 18th St. serving flavorful, garlicky jibaritos, plates, etc. It wasn’t too crowded for a Saturday lunch, but most of the tables were full. The inside ambience is chill and relaxed. I ordered the Vegan Steak Mofongo Plate and Full Chicken Jibarito to share with one other person, and it was a hefty amount of food that left us both quite full and satisfied.
Both tasted flavorful, but overly salty, as we were both extremely thirsty afterwards. And although I’m normally a huge fan of garlic, I must say that the garlic flavor in both dishes was a bit overpowering. I personally liked the Vegan Steak Mofongo Plate better, as it had a more eclectic mix of textures and flavors, from the delicious beans mixed in rice to the vegan steak and soft, garlicky mash exterior. The jibarito was similarly flavorful but difficult to consume cohesively in one piece.
The prices are pretty fair, especially for the portion sizes. Although I didn’t love how salty and overly garlicky the food was, it did hit the spot overall and I would love come back to try the other items on the menu.

I fell in love with this place when I walked in. The jibaritos are huge. The steak is tender when you bite into the sandwitch. I recomend the empanada sampler. You get 3 different empanadas and 2 different fritters. Everything is under $20. Yet, you wont go away hungry.
I absolutely love this place! Everything is so good here. When me and my boyfriend came here for the first time he almost cried. The food reminded him of his grandmas cooking, she’s not here with us anymore so his heart was just filled with happiness. Good job to the people that make the food and the atmosphere awesome.
