Best KPortal Reviews

This place sits up in the air for a great view of Lake Huron. Atmosphere is lake inspired. The service was top notch. Wide selection of seafood options. I ordered the Caribbean jerk pork chop. My wife ordered perch dinner. Kids got chicken tenders. Appetizer was crab cake. Everything was delicious ????.
Highly recommend ????????????
Look no further for a delicious meal that’ll hit all the right taste buds. Sure, their menu may seem a bit pricey, but I’ve never had a dish I wasn’t impressed with. The food alone gets five stars from me and another five from my wife. The atmosphere sets the standard for providing that lake/beach feel. Service can be slow at times. Understandably, I attribute that to lack of staff and how busy they have been during my visits.
Their perch is hands-down the best I’ve had in the Lower Peninsula.
Beautiful sight and cool building, but there were quite a few issues. Windows we’re pretty nasty looking out and the bathroom was really gross, ordered a burger medium rare and it was quite over cooked, also ordered the lobster poutine and it was alright. Didn’t get the waters we ordered until we got our food. The waitress we had was very nice and one guy at the bar was too, but everyone else seemed very odd and as if they were fed up and didn’t want to be there, very expensive for what it was too. Love the view, but the food, cleanliness aswell as the service (partially) and price made it not worth going back.
This place has great views! The food was good. They mixed up our sides. But, I say overall we had a pretty good experience here. The waitstaff was attentive. It did not take that long to get our beverages. And the meal came out in a reasonable amount of time. The food was good. The chop was moist. And the fish was tasty. It is kind of expensive here, but the food, service, and view made it worthwhile.
The service was bad. The setup of the restaurant is poorly organized when you walk in. The person is hiding behind the desk. When you go up the stairs or elevator, all you see is the seats for the waiting area and a lot of people sitting and waiting for a table. The waiter seating the tables is hiding behind a wall and behind a table. You have to walk up to them so you can check in. As a tourist in the area, we didn’t know any better. They should have the waiter standing out so you can see them. There’s no signs either. They are really busy and the food takes forever to come out. So if you’re super hungry, you shouldn’t go there. It took 1 hour for our main entree and 30 mins for the whitefish rangoons. The food and drinks were delicious. The view outside is amazing!
After some recommendations, we decided to try out this unique second floor restaurant. The food online looked great and the view over the lake would be perfect for a Sunday evening family dinner. The photos and little museum there starts off with a great atmosphere for a sea food place. The view of the marina was great until we sat down to find bugs and dirty windows obstructing our view.
Our server greeted us in a The Office T-shirt and grabbed our drinks. Our drinks came back with mine being the completely wrong drink. Didn't know a maker's mark neat was a hard order. Sent it back, only to get the same drink back without ice. They got the neat part right.
I got the right drink next, only to find it in a dirty cup. Bourbon cleans drink glasses out right? I hit screw it. My wife's drink, the Michigan mule, was great. So we ordered our food to gaze out on the marina through windows that hadn't been cleaned in a long while. We were supposed to get bread while we wait but our server seemed to have forgotten that along with their work shirt.
Oh wait, Alex found their work shirt when they brought out our food. Looking nice. Our food looked good except the cooks seemed to forget to keep my wife's food warm while cooking other dishes. Yummy, cold shrimp and green beans. My in laws found their fish about as over cooked then an Irish person sun bathing on the beach. Whereas my chicken tenders were actually really good. Odd thing to get right in a sea food establishment.
We got about half way through eating our food and we asked for the bread hoping they would be as good as Texan Roadhouse, maybe find a redeeming quality of the place outside the tenders and mule. We got the bread only to find it was tough and just ok. The butter we got in those little plastic containers like from hotel breakfasts.
Now after this, we get the check to see the damage to our wallets that our stomaches were dealing with now. For how expensive this tourist trap is, we realized they were only full at the moment because there isn't any competition against it in the area. I don't often give 1 stars but dear god this place gave me too many reasons to give just that.
I ordered a crab cake appetizer, Seafood Puttanesca, a side of seasonal vegetables, and a Michigan Mule cocktail. The Michigan Mule did not have the Vernors and I doubt there was alcohol in it. The crab cake was delicious but the greens on the side had no dressing at all. Dry. The Seafood Puttanesca did not have the Puttanesca ingredients listed on the menu. It was just 3 shrimp, about 20+ mussels (a lot!), deliciously flavored tomato sauce over cavatappi. No capers or olives. Rolls never arrived. The seasonal vegetables (sautéed green beans) were very delicious but the dish arrived after I had finished 3/4 of my meal. My companion's meal was different than mine but the food quality was the same. Missing ingredients. The printed menu appears delicious but that is not what is served.
The worst was the service! Our server took our order, delivered it, and later gave us the bill. He never asked if we wanted another drink, if we liked our food, needed anything else, if wished for dessert or coffee. He appeared to have taken a vow of silence. Also, we never saw him to flag him down, such as for the missing dinner rolls. He never smiled and seemed to indicate that taking our order was inflicting him with severe boredom and possibly pain.
The view is amazing and the printed menu is mouth watering. But the served food is sub-par and service non-existent.
Would probably be a 4 star many places because of the service and steak but for this area a 5...
Walleye both fried and battered were great. Large portions and tasty. White fish was good but the Steak, a large portion but not very good. Nice abviance. Service was a bit odd... waitress was anxious for us to leave even though the service was slow and we ordered appetizer and large meals and several drinks. No complaints about slow service, just a note... we were enjoying our friends at dinner and taking our time. Lots of interesting beer selections.
Would go back hopefully a different waiter or waitress.
