Brunch at The Hive was delicious! We ordered three dishes for the four of us and ate family style. The shrimp & grits were my favorite. One person said the chicken and waffles were the best they ever had. The third dish was the mushroom omelette. Can’t wait to go back and tackle the menu. Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked amazing!
Beautiful spot. Love the layout and 50/60s vibe. I had the Chicken and Waffles and they were delicious. Chicken was crispy and juicy. Waffle was fluffy. Loved the whip cream and syrup.
Service was friendly. Coffee was good.
Food is absolutely amazing! You can tell it is fresh and made from scratch! I love supporting local, especially when they use organic and locally sourced ingredients. My only issue was the service. We were waiting inside to even be acknowledged was over 5 minutes. I've gone several times and this is the same experience every time. I also ordered a burger and have allergies so I asked the server to remove some of the toppings on the burger. The server was rude and sarcastic saying "do you just want a plain burger then?" It was very unprofessional. Staffing needs to be worked on with attitude and maybe the lack of staff? The wait time is forever too. Don't come here if you have a short lunch break, maybe call an order ahead instead.
Solid food choices. Something for everyone. Hope they keep making new homemade sauces to accompany their dishes. I didn't quite find one I was into, but I appreciate the effort. (I love a good ranch with a lot of dill.) We tried the French toast, brisket hash, and the fried chicken sandwich. All were tasty.
The atmosphere of this place was great. We didn't have reservations on a Sunday and waited for 30 min for a table. Coffee and brunch drinks were good. What took the most time was the food. Once sat and ordered, it took almost 25 minutes to get the coffee and almost an hour for food. By that time, we were hungry. The portion sizes were perfect.
This place is super cute and classy. Our waitress was super sweet and nice. We went for their Sunday brunch, but I think their AC was on…. SUPER COLD! The Bloody Mary unfortunately was pretty bad. Probably the worst Bloody Mary mix I have ever tried. ???? We got the “Boring Benny” for food. The ham was good and the biscuits were pretty good too. Sadly, the potato’s were undercooked and the hollandaise sauce was pretty bland.
I hate to say it, but it was simply okay. They have an amazing interior (vintage and airy, love the vibes), but just mediocre food. The taste was almosttt there, but it just felt like it was missing something overall, I guess a lack of seasoning.
We both ordered the Fried Chicken Burger (Sandwich) with fries for lunch. The sandwich itself comes with a piece of fried chicken skewered on top which is fun. The patty is pretty big and it feels like a classic southern fried Chicken sandwich scaled up. The chicken was decently moist, however the batter was kinda crunchy and had flavor but tasted a bit bland/lacking in spices overall. It had flavor, but also didn't. The fries were were fried well and crispy outside and fluffy inside, but they too were just missing something in the flavor department. The ketchup that comes with the meal seems like a homemade ketchup (almost like a salsa consistency) that was good and definitely helped the sandwich and fries. Overall, we were both underwhelmed.
It took a while to get our order taken and then eventually the check to go. This was around 1pm on a Monday for lunch. Waitress seemed friendly though!
I think for the price of the fried chicken sandwich ($20+tip) you can probably find a better tasting one somewhere else.
Maybe it was just a one off day? Throw some salt in there!
A favorite place to start my morning. Whether inviting clients for a breakfast meeting in the restaurant side or enjoying the ambience of the adjacent café in solace, The Hive never disappoints. Connected to the inviting and vibrant downtown Oregon City through the municipal elevator, The Hive is easy to reach from any direction.
