Attended for our lunch ourselves and two doggies, staff were welcoming on arrival and we found a nice quiet corner. Ordered a tuna sandwich and a cheese ploughman's this took nearly 40minutes to arrive and two tables who had ordered hot food were served before despite ordering after us. The food was okay quite a bland plastic like cheddar with the ploughman's and bog standard supermarket brown bread on the tuna sandwich. At a price of around £10 for each felt the food was a little lacking.
We stayed in Happisburgh for a short break and the pub was a short walk away. We stopped off for a drink whilst out walking and then decided to book a table for an evening meal later on.
This is a lovely traditional dog friendly pub with bar and restaurant area and a pool table to keep the kids busy. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and even gave our dog a treat.
It was lovely talking to some locals and also other visitors and the atmosphere was really nice.
The food was excellent and reasonably priced so we will be coming here again for sure.
Stopped here for an early lunch with husband. Excellent service from friendly staff, especially the young guy behind the bar (sorry, didn't get his name). Good selection of drinks plus decent food, would definitely recommend ????
Been staying at the campsite nearby, went to the pub for a birthday meal and the staff and owners made us feel really welcome especially the dog. They had even put up a birthday banner. I highly recommend this pub to anyone great food and a good atmosphere will definitely be back.
Great to go back to a beloved venue after many years, and find it's still ???? and very special and actually even better than remembered.
Wonderful staff, great atmosphere and delicious food, not forgetting the iconic location of Happisburg.
The photo is of the locally caught delicious Crab, with a rather yummy salad. ????
Fabulous rustic old pub, every time we visit the area we cycle to the hill house inn and often have lunch. I messaged via facebook to book a table and following my message they even put chicken pie on the specials menu for me! Lovely food and friendly atmosphere. Crab chowder was delicious too. Very welcoming and child friendly.
Great service from friendly staff. Nice food plus a good selection of beers and drinks, what's not to like! Dog friendly. Well worth a visit.
A very authentic experience; we had a warm welcome from the landlord and enjoyed their home-made tomato soup. Don't be put off by the decor, the beer is well kept and the food home-made. Whilst we ate, the locals dropped in and out for a chat, the main topic of conversation being the coastal erosion which means that this marvelously quirky place may well be lost to the sea in a few years. They also have accommodation, including a signal box for a railway that was never built! This, and other stories can be heard at this uncommercilised and enchanting place.
