The food is bomb, well executed and presentation is a plus also Black owned. But they have these SWEET POTATO corn muffins that are to kill for! Don’t hesitate this new spot on the block is hot I’m excited to go back! Oh and the fried chicken? The ancestors are praising
My family and I traveled from Atlanta to Macon to try out this restaurant, and all I have to say is it was worth the drive! Everything we tried was delicious especially the gumbo fried rice and the service was great. If you are looking for a new twist on Southern style food, this restaurant is a must and will not disappoint. We will be back.
Yup 5 star experience for me. Called in my order just 15 before I headed over. By the time I drove from Mercer University to location food was ready. Hot. Boxed beautifully and ready. Flavorful. Tried the kale it was great. Whole fried wings a little salty but crispy and juicy. Gumbo rice full of meat and flavor again a little salty to me but that could just be my palate. Star of show: sweet potato corn muffin!!! I’ll definitely be back. That sausage poboy is calling me!
Where do I begin? I heard about this little spot from a co-worker. She spoke so highly of it and showed me pictures from the website. I had to come and try it, especially after I heard about the fried peach cobbler. I ordered the wings, Kale, corn and of course, the cobbler. Let me tell you, EVERYTHING was cooked and seasoned to perfection! The entire meal was good and satisfying and did I mention the sweet potato muffins? OMG I need a nap!! I will definitely be going back! Thank you for your kindness, Bonita. Your customer service is top notch. See you soon.

I’m going to give it to you straight the great, good, and things I’d like to see different. First, the great, the lady working the counter is a gem, the pomegranate and hibiscus punch (didn’t think I’d like it but damn!), the ribs are seasoned beautifully and the bbq sauce isn’t overpowering fake stuff, there are no words for the Mac and cheese, the fried peach cobbler is different and amazing and the sweet potato muffins (more on that later). The good, the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming and they have tables and chairs you can eat at but this is really a takeout kind of setup right now. Honestly not a big deal to me at all but don’t expect fine china and polished silverware. Finally, things I’d like to see different which is a short list. The sweet potato muffins I mentioned before are mini muffins which is cool but kind of a tease. Those things should be on the menu in a six pack or dozen pack. Like I said it’s a short list. Food is amazing and you can tell there’s quality ingredients going in i.e. you ever get a rib that is fat and bone? Not here those jokers were meaty. What else can I say but go try it
Food was so good I forgot to take a picture
10 out of 10 I will definitely be back and recommend. Chicken super flavorful and that CRUNCH, brisket was fall apart tender, those little muffins?! Amazing. Mac and cheese would make you want to slap your momma, I don’t even eat kale and I didn’t leave a scrap in the bowl those greens were so good. The fried peach cobbler was the final dazzle dazzle
Staff was also super sweet
High Hog Eatery has some of the BEST soul food I have ever eaten. They really elevate their dishes in some phenomenally creative ways. On top of that, the owner is an amazing woman. We had some Door Dash issues with our food, and she allowed us to come back and she remade the food. She was so sweet and thoughtful about it. The food is enough to come back regularly, but their service was a wonderful cherry on top!
I tried most items on the Menu for this review the service and food was Excellent!! Warm banana pudding and fried Peach Cobbler was the bomb sweet, goodness! Fried chicken wings and Perch Fish are well seasoned and fried to perfection! The Chicken Wings had to been brined before frying as they were juicy and tender! Pork Ribs aren’t saucy but good with sweet corn muffin! Kale is to die for!! Very seasoned and good flavored very good taste could have eaten more! I also got the gumbo rice without chicken and it’s a Meal in itself made with a bunch of flavor and fresh okra slices!! Speaking of okra the fried okra was a first experience for me!! Never had whole fried okra served with a yogurt dipping sauce - mind blowing - delicious!! Sweet Tea is a 10/10 to finish it off with! I think I spoke on everything I tried; might of missed an item or too lol but I will definitely be back!! Great service and people and the packaging is superb very nice packaging and clean environment!! A Must Try!!
