Reluctantly giving this great venue a Google *5 review - only because we want to keep it our “local” secret ???? Such a welcoming and friendly proper pub with exceptional homemade food - our fur baby Ted was most impressed with his treats as well - and the service from Teresa and James was attentive and impeccable. We’ll be back for the live entertainment 8-piece band later this month. Thanks for a great impromptu Sunday lunch and the Stray Dogs. Petra and Steve
Quite a nice looking pub, located about halfway between Pevensey Castle and the station. The interior has been partially opened out into a U-shaped bar. Very friendly barmaid. Clean and neat restrooms. Love the ‘family garden’ that consists of some café style seating on a paved area that leads to some picnic tables on the lawn. There are also a few tables and chairs under a shelter that also houses a BBQ for sunny days.
We had Sunday lunch here yesterday, food was excellent, fresh & of good quality & home made. The atmosphere was great, good to see the village pub thriving. Very friendly welcoming staff, will definitely return, would highly recommend it.
Lovely meal this evening. The staff are friendly and atmosphere is good. The homemade steak, ale and mushroom pie was the highlight. Will definitely be eating here again.
Visited The Heron after a nice walk around Westam, in the mud ????.
Quick change of footware and into our pre reserved table.
Had the Sunday Roast, lots of nice veg, lovely rosdt potatoes, tender meat and a nice Yorkshire pudding, with a side af lovely cheesy cauliflower cheese.
Goos service and decent value for money, although soda and fresh lime, in my opinion, should be free, which they charge for unfortunately.
Overall, a lovely dinner, dessert next time maybe, but were full on this occasion.
A lovely regular boozer, full of characters.The alcohol is reasonably priced and they do an exceptional pint of Guinness.
First time in the heron after moving to the area... fantastic atmosphere, great live music... back on Wednesday for the darts
Great pub with a lovely welcoming atmosphere. A spacious garden at the rear which came as a lovely surprise , had sun all afternoon, lots of umbrellas available if you want some shade too.
Food was plentiful and tasty , I would recommend the cod and chips and the burger.
