Stayed 4 nights at this beautiful B&B on our first trip to Northumberland. Lovely place to stay with lots of extra touches that you don't get in big hotels. We found it easily with satnav and also thought it was a great place to stay to see the sites we'd promised ourselves to visit. We stayed in Room 1 which is large and roomy with plenty of storage space, big bathroom with shower and bath, the rooms are on the ground floor so easily accessible (not for wheelchairs though) and very convenient for the lovely breakfast room and lounge. Breakfast was brilliant with lots of choice and cooked quickly and served with a big smile from Liz and Jonathan. They are the perfect hosts and only wish we could give 10 stars! Would have no hesitation in recommending The Hemmel, hope to return sometime x
I had a wonderful 2 night stay at The Hemmel with my mum. Maddie and Steve are lovely hosts. The rooms and B&B are spotless and really nicely furnished. There were lots of little extras included that we weren’t expecting (dressing gowns, Netflix, fresh milk, cafetière and refreshments in the room!). For breakfast there’s a good selection of continental and cooked. The full English was 10/10 (worth mentioning that we both really enjoyed the sausages and option of black pudding!). The location is very good, Wooler is a lovely little village with a good selection of shops, cafes, pubs, etc. and a great place to explore the north east from. Would definitely stay again and 100% recommend!
We recently stayed at The Hemmel for 7 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Maddie and Steve were great hosts; breakfasts were excellent; our room was very clean and had everything that we needed; the location was ideal for exploring the northern part of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders, and we were very relaxed about their Covid precautions. Having experienced The Hemmel we wouldn't stay anywhere else in that area.
What a fabulous little place. The B & B was very clean and very comfortable. Steve, our host couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast was scrumptious and plentiful. With a stocked fridge in the room with little goodies, what more could you want. We would 110% definitely go again. Thanks Steve and Maddie. X
We stayed here as a couple, for a weekend. Upon arriving we were greeted by the host, warm friendly who showed us to our room etc. Beautiful B&B the best I’ve stayed in, breakfast was amazing, and maddie even asked what time we wanted it etc, the whole place just has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The room was very clean and even had nice touches such as refreshments and biscuits in the fridge. ||We will most definitely return here in the near future! ||5 stars is not enough.
The Hemmel was excellent. Spotlessley clean and comfortable. Lovely not shower with soft towels and good toiletries too!||Steve & Maddie great hosts who cooked us a great breakfast each day. We took our bikes and there was no trouble storing them in the shed.||Wooler is a small village just up the road with a great Italian and tapas restaurant as well as a couple of pubs.||we had a great stay and would highly recommend
Excellent host, very warm welcome! Accommodation spotless. Photos on website don’t do it justice. Stayed in the deluxe room, really lovely en-suite. Very peaceful location, stunning scenery. Really enjoyed the cooked breakfast. Will definitely return!
This gorgeous b&b is set in a perfect location for exploring the Northumberland coast. The owners are so friendly and their home is relaxed and well presented. Willing to help where ever possible. Rooms and breakfast were excellent as was the value for money. Decor was quirky and unique. Very clean and modern with a traditional blend. Couldn't recommend enough.
