Best KPortal Reviews

This hotel is the epitome of hospitality! The rooms were luxurious - I loved the shower - and the staff went above and beyond every day to make our stay there comfortable. They really take care with the breakfast as well! I've never had more delicious porridge! Before this stay I never would have thought porridge could be so memorable! The view from the dining room was spectacular morning and night. We had dinner there one evening and it was a delight as well. The menu had a lot of variety and all of the dishes we had were wonderful. While staying on Islay this hotel was our cozy little oasis and I can't recommend it enough!
The lovely and cozy Harbour Inn, owned now by the Bowmore Distillery, is well situated by the pier, just blocks from a number of good restaurants. Though they were severely understaffed due to current challenges, everyone was extremely pleasant and accommodating. Our large room overlooking the water was very comfortable and had a gorgeous contemporary bathroom decorated with lots of slate. Ours was the only room on the upper floor of our wing, and we had the small "public" lounge area next to our room completely to ourselves. We especially liked the cozy fireside seating in the reception area where drinks were served to us. The small friendly pub, open briefly when staff was available, was also a highlight. A very good breakfast is served in a bright room with pretty views of the harbor. We really enjoyed everything about our stay here.
I'm not one to rave about hotels lightly, but the Harbour Inn was the PERFECT stay for my first trip to Islay. I can't wait to come back. ||||Service - 5 stars. My flight into Islay was canceled, which left me arriving a day later than anticipated. The staff were super understanding and also helped me make the most of my time.||||Rooms - I stayed in a premium room with a patio that looked out over the water. It was the best combination of historic look with modern amenities. Recommend the Lossit room. ||||Food - I had every meal in Islay here, and it exceeded my expectations. Breakfast is luxurious, some of the best smoked salmon ever. Good whisky selection. ||||Location - very central in Bowmore. I decided to stay here rather than others like Port Ellen due to the nightlife options - check out Lucci's Whisky Bar!
Fantastic restaurant. Really easy to reserve a table online and a fantastic view from the restaurant over the bay. We had a great selection of whisky to choose from, with a detailed guidebook explaining each option. We really enjoyed sipping various whiskeys and comparing notes whilst waiting for lunch - a throughly good past-time! Lunch was excellent too, as was the customer service.
Fab Hotel, the location is beautiful, we wish we stayed longer!
Room was clean, comfy bed, lovely little toiletries.
Excellent service, staff are friendly and so welcoming.
The food was amazing, only down side was there was only one vegetarian option at dinner. Great selection for breakfast. We would love to go back and stay again one day.
We stayed at The Harbour Inn for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay.||The staff were excellent, they were warm, welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived until the moment we left.||You couldn't ask for a much better location, literally a few step to the pier and the same to Bowmore's shops and distillery.||The view from our top floor room was great, to the left a view up the street to the round church and to the right the pier and views over Lochindaal.|The room itself was spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable.||The hotel's Covid protocols are excellent, giving an added feeling comfort.||Breakfast was excellent, as was the service.|Unfortunately we were unable to use the restaurant for an evening meal due to it being fully booked on both nights we stayed. That's the only reason I've not given a 5 rating.||I would happily stay here again and also recommend it to anyone else.|
Superb service! Great whisky (had the Bowmore tasting menu) and exceptional Islay oysters! We had venison, scallops (excellent!) and Mac and cheese (best ever!). Everything was tasty. Well worth the visit
We loved our visit to The Harbour Inn. It's an inn, not a hotel, not a B&B, so you should manage expectations accordingly - don't expect hotel facilities like a gym/business centre/air con/cookie cutter rooms, or B&B weirdness and feeling like you're in someone's home. This Inn delivers perfectly. ||||Parking is free outside, but note that availability can be tricky at times as it's also a place where people park for the supermarket and shops of Bowmore. After about 4.30pm there's no issue. ||||Our welcome was warm, and the brilliant staff made the trip for us. No request was too great, and there was no judgement when we dined elsewhere but sheepishly apologised for cheating on them but sought their beautiful cranachan and some whiskies on our return. Every member of the team was welcoming and offered fantastic hospitality. ||||The rooms are cosy. Soundproofing was a bit of an issue due to some other guests talking loudly on the stairs/landing, but there was limited noise from the street. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was huge with a powerful shower. Hot water was mostly reliable even at peak times, and we loved the toiletries. It's Islay, so air conditioning isn't necessary, and as it was June we needed a little heating, which was easy to manage. ||||Take care when booking as the images are the same on their website regardless of room configuration - I accidentally booked a twin because the picture showed a double. It was made back to a double during our first dinner with no issue. ||||Breakfast was terrific, especially the Islay lorne sausage I was told came from a cow the chef chose from Octomore and had served in a variety of ways. It's a breakfast that means you need no lunch. ||||The residents' lounge is cosy with a lovely view, and spending time in the snug at reception next to the fire with a whisky and a book was heavenly, even in June - Islay isn't tropical after all. ||||We ate once in the restaurant and regretted eating elsewhere for our other 2 nights. At the time (June 2021) it was only open to residents, but if you can book in I highly recommend it. I'll review the restaurant listing separately. ||||It was our first visit to Islay, and after a few days we've 'done' it, so whilst I'm not sure if/when we'd ever return, the prospect of staying at the Harbour Inn again makes it much more likely. Thanks to all for a wonderful stay.
