Perfect Easter Sunday lunch for 9 of us. Amazing food, lovely local beers/ciders all backed up with superb friendly service. Couldn’t fault it… genuine, proper food. Highly recommended.
A fantastic place for our grandmas 80th birthday! We had a private room which seated all of us. Service and food was just fantastic, quality food, portions and ingredients, couldn’t fault anything! Thank you for having us.
A lovely little pub nestled in the small village of Polbathic, East Cornwall. We stayed here for 1 night following a family funeral and we couldn't have picked a better place! We were met on arrival and showed to our room by our hosts who were just fantastic. The room was spotlessly clean and tidy with all the amenities you'd expect for an overnight stay. I particularly liked the fresh milk on request rather than the usual UHT pots which can taste rather plastic On returning from the funeral, there was a live band playing who were brilliant and certainly raised our mood The beds themselves were really comfortable although I found the pillows a little hard ( personal choice) whereas our friends found the perfect ( you can't win them all!!). Breakfast was lovely although, as there were 8 in our party, took quite a while to arrive, understandable considering they served all 8 of us together. A heartfelt goodbye by the hosts and we were on our way. Overall, this is a fantastic little place and we'd definitely stay here again albeit under different circumstances. Thank you to you all at the Halfway House for making our stay as comfortable as possible. It was really appreciated!
All of the ratings said the food was good and the staff extremely friendly I can concur that that was very correct. There was a wake going on in the pub that day and they were Very busy but still very professional I will definitely return for another visit
We booked a table at short notice, however got stuck as the road was flooded which took us forever to reverse all the way back up the lane!
On arrival, the staff were kind and accepted our apology for the late arrival. Excellent service by all and the food was perfect! PS. The fish and chips is huge! But oh so, good!
Highly recommend The Halfway House! Food, staff and owners are amazing. This is a proper ‘English’ pub with fantastic home cooked food and dog friendly!!
Holidaying for 7 nights locally, we were recommended this pub. We popped in for a beer day one and felt very welcome so we booked the set dinner on NYE. Great night, although our 18 month old wasn’t happy. Kirsty the LL offered to take her for a walk so we could enjoy our meal.
Visited again on New Year’s Day as the food was so good, this time we had the roast and again the chef smashed it out the park. The pâté & tomato chutney is incredible and the apple crumble was divine!!

Really friendly staff and good food. The perfect place to kill 2 hours while my car was having a Valet. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use or see the rooms.
Always a lovely welcome and really good food. The Sunday lunch is exceptional and the menu has ‘something for everyone’. A truly brilliant local pub with lots going on. What a asset to the village.
