I feel so grateful that we found this Cantonese restaurant in Shetland and had real seafood meal finally! HK people are so crazy for seafood! But It’s hard to find seafood restaurant in Shetland yet Great Wall catered to make Hong Kong style dishes for us such as shell on Lobster fried noodles, steam fish, steam egg white crabs, and local HK style fried beef etc. But their usual dishes such as lemon chicken, fried wanton, dim sum, seafood soup are very nice too. They’re super busy on Friday and weekends so be sure to make reservations in advance. But if you go during weekdays sure you’ll got better attention from managers, that’s why we usually go during weekday nights. Both manager and owner very friendly and welcoming, hope we’ll be back one day.
Service was ok, friendly & efficient. The only downside was the waiter bringing the dessert as he had his thumb on the ingredient. Needs more training, just too casual for me.
Starters were lovely although the staff member asked if we had finished when she could clearly see I was still eating it which made me feel awkward. We were rushed into having our mains straight after the starters. Staff congreated in the corner discussing how glad they didn't have any big groups to deal with. We were not in the restaurant even an hour so was a very rushed unpleasant experience. I would look into changing your staff as other reviews before me have suggested. £55 later not happy would not recommend.
Tasty food.
We had just some takeaway. Friendly woman at the counter. I showed here a picture of beef steak wirh onions. It is not anymore on the menu, but they cooked it for me. It was very tender and tasty. We paid much more for a tasteless and chewy steak at a hotel restaurant in Lerwick.
We were the only people in the restaurant at about 7.30pm staff were slow dealing with us and spent more time on their phones, play fighting loudly in the restaurant area and playing pattacake loudly also, food was nice but shame about the staff, they took about 30mins to clear our starter plates, and when we wanted more drinks we had to go over and disturb them. I definitely would not recommend and will not be returning. I think management need to look into the staff.
Great food, service was good and reasonable priced
Had a birthday meal here as there was a limited choice of places open.
Great setting but the place was dead by 7pm so we felt quite rushed to get out. All teenage staff on shift arguing with each other and loudly proclaiming they were "too busy" to help colleagues run food/clear tables.
Phones being used behind the bar despite a clear sign prohibiting staff use during a shift.
Food was ok but bizarre to have no veg through a dish.
Having worked as a waitress while at Uni, we would have been disciplined had we been caught breaking rules, being rude to and arguing with each other in full view of paying customers.
Ordered Korean bbq chicken with salt and pepper chips and egg fried rice and it was lovely. Very well cooked and the chicken came out on a sizzling plate so it was nice and hot. Would recommend coming here if you're a late night eater ad most places stop serving after 8 for some reason. Nice selection of beers too.
