First weekend away post lockdown and it was fab! The manager was warm ,welcoming and very knowledgeable about the local area. We had a room with a balcony that overlooked fantastic gardens. The bed was very comfy and bathroom was clean with a good shower. We had a kitchenette which was stocked daily for our breakfasts and there was as much tea and coffee provided as you wanted. Melton Mowbray itself was was charming and we ate out in a couple of lovely restaurants. Looking forward to a return visit.
We booked here as a one night stay as it was the cheapest in the area not expecting some of the surprises we got.||||We got to the room around 6ish in the evening for our stay to be told that we have a kitchenette and breakfast was in the room.this was ok apart from some of the jams were already open and there was not enough milk for it both to have multiple teas/coffees as well as cereals for the morning. This would be ok if there was instructions to ask for more if needed. We had apple juice for our morning drink in the fridge instead of orange juice and neither of us drink apple juice! There was not an option to swop this ( maybe a little card on the side with option to swop items would be great).||Also I have an allergy to nuts ans none of the cereals were labelled ( this is a disaster waiting to happen). ||||We felt a little conned out of money in our room as our friends were in a room the opposite side of the house and they had a balcony and corner bath! Along with the beautiful views of the gardens yet we paid the same prices and didn’t get any of this! I feel like this would of made up for the lack of hot breakfast that we were expecting.||||Not to mention the fact that it is an old building and we were put right by the creaky stairs and you could hear absolutely everything that everyone was doing around us! We were woken us at 7.30am by a microwave above or to the side of us! You can hear everything is doing and if your a light sleeper like me then you don’t stand a chance of sleeping.||||The shower was electric and just trickled over our body’s - with long hair it took me atleast 30 mins to get my hair washed ans dried - not to mention the horrendously loud noise that it makes when using it! It sounded like A very very loud kettle which kept miss fire-ring.||||||Place is ok the best part about is is the gardens but you don’t get much time to experience this on an over night stay. The owners were poodle mad … this is very obvious as they had a poodle an themselves that joined us in the garden as well as poodle statues everywhere which was a little freaky but cute at the same time.||||I don’t think we will be back in a hurry but nice for in the week when maybe it’s Abit quieter. Would recommend a Saturday night with the whole house booked up as sleep would not be possible. ||||Gardens are beautiful however ans this is the best part as well as a comfy bed.
Great staff, polite and lovely on arrival.
Grounds out back are really beautiful.
We stayed in the penthouse 1. Big room, kitchen, living area, bedroom and bathroom. Kitchen filled with milk, tea, coffee and breakfast stuff.
The bed was very comfy, great pillows but the bed itself was extremely squeeky. The slightest movement was very loud disturbing a good night's sleep.
The room was in need of repair, lights falling off, handles hard to use, plaster coming off the walls. But hard to mark down for that. Overall it is a great room.
Landing outside the room had no light and there is a small step. You cannot see it when it's dark so my wife tripped and hurt her ankle.
Very disappointed there is no hot breakfast but the owners did supply us with continental stuff.
Would we stay here again? Yes.
Would we recommend it? Yes.
One of the best self catering places we have stayed at. Great Kitchen + Breakfast supplies daily. Quiet fantastic garden with great views across the country, parking adequate, close to Melton Mowbray that always has something on. Family owned and are great hosts. Will always stay there when in the area anytime now i have found it. Price very reasonable for the excellent service provided.
Booked before reading the reviews, which seem mixed. It is tired in places (chrome worn on plug hole) stain on chair cushion (maybe a steam clean needed). But is was clean and for the price I haveno complaints. If they updated rooms I am sure they could charge double. Breakfast is self service in you room/kitchenette. We had bread for toast, butter, selection of jams, a good choice of yogurts, choice of cereal, orange juice, croissants, tea coffe, etc . If I am that way again I would stay. My only suggestion would be if they could mark parking as other guest didn't always park considerable, but that is not the owners fault.
We saw the picture of the beautiful house and thought we would be staying in it. We were put in what can only be described as ‘contractors accommodation’. The apartment was really grotty and had not been cleaned for a long time. The furnishings, carpet and lighting were poor quality. The beds were comfortable however and the bed linen was adequate. The kitchenette provided the basics, but unfortunately the crockery had food stuck to it from the last occupants. I felt I had to wash the pots before using them. The sink drainer had thick gunge in the corners. The bathroom was horrible with mouldy grouting. Towels were old and scratchy. The place had not been cleaned properly in years. We can do ‘shabby chic’ but this place was just shabby.
Gorgeous double room with a bathroom and a little kitchenette, which comes with milk and yoghurts, jams, cereals etc absolutely loved this place! Very comfy beds, felt very homely, nice and quiet too. Checked in a little late but the lady was very welcoming and sweet. Will be coming back again!
Very convenient location for the purpose of our visit. The room was comfortable. The breakfast provision was a simple do it yourself set up with food in the fridge and kettle and toaster in the kitchenette. We were only staying one night, but for anyone staying longer there was a hob and microwave. The area was quiet and peaceful.
