Gorgeous hotel, but "Jennifer" is sour and rude. Glad the other staff was friendly. No one answers the phone when you call, as we experienced several times, so be sure you don't have any urgent questions.
I used to live in 2 Grafton Common, just across from the Inn 25 years back and I knew the Inn's location. It was a historical building, nice, lot of modern amenities yet in old style which I personally like. Clean and comfortable bed, spacious room, bathroom is ok. Appreciate the fridge and hair dryer. The only thing is that I spent 1 night there in the beginning of October and there was no room heater. It was not super-cold but as I went there from Arizona, to me it was cold. I noticed it in night but didn't call the host for it as it was not terrible cold or freezing. But my suggestion would be to put a room heater. The tea-coffee arrangement is nice. I must appreciate the host's nice communication and appreciate that he did let me do early check-in. Grafton is a quaint small town with lots of trees in Common across from the Inn and I enjoyed it immensely but I must write that there was no front desk/reception in the building, the room key was in the lockbox, the front door stays open, inside light is dim, my room was No. 7 on 3rd floor with dim-lighted corridor and there was a small you get when you enter in an old house......to me all these were ok but may not be to everybody. An alone person may feel eerie or unsafe there. I stayed there for October 9, 2023.
The rooms are quaint, but clean and reasonably priced. Charlie, the manager is incredibly accommodating and easy to work with. He and Pat, the housekeeper, took such good care of our family during the time we were there for my brother's funeral. The bar and restaurant were closed for renovation during our stay. That's why I gave it 4 stars. Luckily there is a convenience store a stone's throw away. I would stay there again. Old new england character
As others have mentioned, this property is under renovation. There is no lobby per se and the floor has had the covering torn up and the raw flooring exposed. This true for the elevator. There is no on-sire restaurant. The outside, in the covered area, felt run down and dirty. Older benches, rotting planters, lots of cigarette butts in the sand pail. The stairway up to third floor was not vacuumed. The hallway was dark. The coffee station had fruit flies and did not have coffee pods available for two of the three days we were there. It was hard to see the coffee pot instructions since there was only one lamp in the hall. The room A/C unit was not sealed to the outside. The bathroom was small, not bright, and the sink had toothpaste residue. |Overall, this was a place to sleep (bed was comfortable) only. The building is over 200 years old and it feels that way. This property has a lot of potential, but the current proprietor needs to make some large strides to get it up to standards that most of the traveling public wants. In its current state, the price per night is not justified.
This is an abandoned building in the process of being restored. It may be nice someday, but for now there are torn up floors, shabby carpets, and sagging furniture. It's smelly. The front door is unlocked and there is no attendant. It is unsafe. I immediately left and then had to fight for a refund. Terrible experience.
My husband and I stayed here while visiting my family for the holidays. I actually grew up a Grafton native and had never stepped inside the Grafton Inn before. It is quaint and comfortable and the bartender, who checked us in and assisted us with any needs was wonderful and accomadating. The Inn was nice and tidy. The cost per night is a bit on the high side for what you get, you do get a mini fridge, but no microwave and there is one chair, but no table. We would have also liked to see more shampoo or conditioner. The little packets we got barely did the trick. Overall the experience was very pleasant and we will likely be staying here whenever we visit my family in the future.
The beer was good, decent selection and the service was great. I had french onion soup (3 out of 10) and a flatbread (0 out of 10). Sorry, I only write this to try to help. The pizza is the worst I've ever had. Cheap cheese, the sauce was tasteless and it wasn't really cooked. Literally worse than cafeteria pizza. The key ingredient to pizza is to show some care. And this was not present. Hope you guys turn it around.

The restaurant has gone down hill. I expected that COVID would cause a staffing shortage in every restaurant but they have more problems than just a shortage of servers.
We went to their web site before we went to there to see what they had for food. You can view the "gallery" - mouth watering pictures of all kinds of dishes. Unfortunately, absolutely NONE of them are offered.
I had my mind set on Roast Beef (saw in the gallery). Not on the actual menu. So I ordered a steak. Not available because they are changing their menu.
We didn't bother to find out what they did have, we just left.
The one "employee" that I wish wasn't there was the live music. Not that he was bad, he was ok, but too loud for a nice dinner out. Couldn't hear myself think.
