We was staying about 15mins away and thought we would try this Chinese. Highly recommend the salt&pepper chicken pieces,fried rice(which is actually egg rice)shredded chicken in capital sauce. I have dropped a star for the chips as not the best (personal taste maybe) and the satay chicken wasn't expecting no skewers and the sauce wasn't great. Would come here again if on holiday. All really hot when arrived back. Free prawn crackers too. The Chinese itself needs heating while your waiting it's freezing, so order by phone.
Value for money. An underrated Chinese takeaway in Fort William. Both the quality and quantity were great. Highly recommend the chicken based rice dishes, appetizers and mains. Would definitely revisit when around.
Went after reading the reviews, its not always true what you read. Sadly we didnt rate this palce, curry was waaaay too peppery, prawn toast swimming in grease and chips were just not right. Shame otherwise as counter help was first class.
I decided to give 2 stars as we spend a weekend in William's. and this was the only takeaway open on a Sunday no sure if therw are more but near to us so we decided to have the meal for 4 people. In my opinion i think was over price for what the give you and wasn't enough meat on the plates? Was more sauce rice to over cook the ribs was cold and the sweet corn soup no as good as it shoulf be.
Do i recommend it well honestly it all depends on your taste if you have a microwave at home better walk another 5m and go to the supermarket and buy something there if you are a bit lazy well i think you can order ans wait 40m? To be your meal ready?

Shocking food.
The sauce was thick, gelatinous and had a generic taste in the two main dishes we had.
The satay sauce didn't even taste like satay, the chips were cold and soggy.
The duck dish we had was horrid. The duck was way over cooked and hardly edible.
The kung po chicken sauce tasted like the sauce from the duck and had a weird orange diluting juice taste...
Even the fortune cookie was chewie.
Never again!
I ordered the fried rice and sweet and sour Cantonese style chicken. The meal was still hot after a 10 minute walk and the service was very quick. The person that served me was also kind enough to fill up my water bottles which was lovely. Excellent food for the price point!
Nice meal - under new ownership in the last few months. I would happily have another take away from The Golden River.
Food (lemon chicken and chichen fried rice) was great. But pricey though.
Ref atmosphere: the surfaces in the waiting area were a bit sticky...
