We always have one of our holiday meals here when stopping at Caddys Corner. We have never been disappointed. The food is amazing every time, and they always look after you with fabulous service. The portion sizes are very generous! See you next time we visit Cornwall ????
We ate here 3 out of 4 days we were staying on the campsite at the rear of the pub. Excellent food reasonably priced served by happy, friendly, attentive staff. Premises dog friendly, great selection of beers/ales, even the wine fairly priced. Sat in the lovely garden one lunchtime dodging the heavy showers, tasty steak & wine one evening followed by the Beatles (Not) lol. Then after a lovely walk Sunday, back for a delicious roast which was really good. Recommended we will be back.
My other half and I visited the golden lion inn for breakfast this morning, it was absolutely beautiful. We went along with out dog, who got a treat and a bowl of water. The breakfast was amazing, fresh produce, and cooked beautifully. Everyone was very polite and very good service. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much. Charlotte xxx ????
Where to start.
When we told people we were having our wedding reception at a pub, we got some mixed looks. But the Golden Lion in Stithians isn't 'just a pub.'
Nestled into some beautifully kept tiered gardens, decorated with bunting and lights, and overlooking Stithians Lake, it is the perfect setting for a celebration and scenery for some incredible photos day and night.
The interior has a quaint blend of cosy, cottage-esqe warmth with the fireplace and stone walls leading to a modern, fresh dinning area, well lit by the incredible panoramic view across the gardens and lake (a stunning backdrop to our bride and groom table).
The food was all delicious, many of our guests saying it was the best nut roast they'd ever had. The golden lion even have their own veg patch, taking locally sourced to another level. Emma even grew us some pumpkins herself when she found out we were struggling to find some. An incredible surprise.
We stayed the week in their adjoing cottage. To say we didn't want to leave is an understatement. Again the perfect blend of cosy cottage, but well lit (natural light), modern luxuries and a stunning fireplace for when the nights are more chilly. There is a lovely morning view from the upstairs of the sunrise over the lake.
Emma and the team were fantastic both on the day and leading up to it, with Emma having to deal with all our questions, requests and changes throughtout the year.
As an added bonus we had the delight of being ferried from our ceremony to reception in a 1934 BSA vintage car, owned by Dave (Emma's husband). Dave is so lovely and you can tell he is so proud of getting this fantastic car up and running, having been passed down to him from his father. It was also great to hear the history of the car and about all the little (and not so little) bits Dave has had to do to fix the car and get it into the beautiful condition its in.
Thankyou again for helping us make our day even more amazing.
Stopped here for lunch. Fabulous! Friendly and helpful staff running a pet friendly pub. I had the 8oz beef burger, chips and a Thatchers zero cider (£18:50).
There was a short wait but clearly the meal was freshly cooked and, as you can see from the photo's excellent quantity and superb quality. The burger was one of the tenderest I have eaten for a while.
Waiting in the garden was not a hardship and, for sure, I will be back.
Probably one of the nicest pub/ campground iv been to in a long while
We stayed there over the bank holiday and Emma couldn’t of been more helpful in getting us a spot big enough and supplying some of the most amazing food iv had in a long time from the breakfast to the roast on the Sunday she even stayed when we where the last in the bar one night
Would definitely stay again if we are out that way
Emma and her team are fantastic with a nothing too much trouble attitude, my family and I have visited many times and its always been faultless. Also has a wonderful play area for children. Don't forget to book at busy times to avoid disappointment.
Had a two night stay in our camper van and dined in at the restaurant Saturday and Sunday evening. Absolutely lovely food, great service and friendly staff. On the Sunday we took our very nervous rescue dog and sat in the garden, it started to get cold so we asked for a takeaway because our dog gets anxious and reactive around people and other dogs, so they very kindly popped us in the snug where we were on our own, able to enjoy food and a drink with Dexter the dog for the first time since we got him 2 years ago! The staff were so attentive and respected Dexter's needs... it was so lovely and I can not reccomend this place enough. Toilet and shower facilities were spotless, beautiful area for dog walks, and nice quiet pitch space. Thank you and we will be returning!
