I ate at The George this week as part of a group of 18. We had chosen our food ahead of the evening and Mandy and Lee coped brilliantly. There was a warm welcome, the table was set by the wood burner which was very welcome on a cold evening and the food was delicious. I had the home made burger which I would certainly recommend. I’ll certainly be back!
Superb pub in codford High Street, recently under new management. Very friendly establishment offering good bitters, lagers, ciders and spirits. Two comfortable seating areas with log burners and a pool table. Toilets clean and pleasant. Friendly, courteous bar staff with a pleasing bar menu. I understand that they are hoping to extend the menu choices. A great pub, highly recommended!
Great fish and chips and great landlords, my rating may change in a few weeks as the landlord is moving on, hopefully the next landlords will be just as good. I would definitely recommend that you try fish and chips friday!
On the drink front they have a good selection of beer, cider and gins especially for a small pub.
Mandy and Lee at the George Codford are the nicest publicans I have come to meet in decades. They have brought the George back to life to be the heart of the village. Binding villagers and visitors alike.
The food is excellent with a super choice of seasonal and European choices to suit Al pallets.
Lesley and I will be back with other members from the Invictus Games Choir for your company and hospitality.

my first time at the george was fab food was great but each time i would return things were not so great 5 of us eating and not enough food instock to go around they only have 2 of this and one of this and then finally putting the george to the test christmas dinner 2018 book for 5 people paid in full added 2 extra on to make 7 then 2 weeks later we have a text to say we cant full fill ya booking for that many people such a let down so close to christmas as most places are full now a full refund was given but very dissapointed for a buissnes that ensured me they would be open as i was concerned when booked and paid in full it might not be there haha as the george pub has a habit of opening and closeing so fast they would be open might as well close after letting people down for christmas well what can i say try the red lion at heytesbury full menu in stock and fresh cooked with good prices family run and very friendly and may be its not abad thing that the george is closing for good in 2 years as has struggled so much to stay open r i p george but i think your days are over mate

Excellent curry night on Saturday. Also the cheesecake is to die for! The food is superb.
