Very chic Bohemian cafe tucked into a quiet corner of central Statford.
Food is very good simple fayre and certainly appears lovingly home made with nice seasonal twists.
Plenty of normal & vegi options & I'd certainly recommend the bonfire vegi sausage roll as well as the cheese & tomatoes flan off the specials board.
The window sign claims all lovingly made on site by a bloke & I believe them too!!
My granddaughter would recomend the chocolate milkshake with icecream too!
Looks inviting from the outside but inside its just meh. Looks a bit run down. Staff not too friendly. Only reason why I came here was because of the window display.
Ended up witg a vegan sandwich which comes with crisps. Served in a plastic tray. Was ok nothing to brag about. Also got roasted cauliflower soup which came with a choice of bread, I went for the safe option - crusty bread. Soup was nice but again nothing to brag about.
Would I come back here? Probably no.
The cakes and bakes here are fantastic. Excellent scones and tasty brownie. The biscoff one was a great balance of saltiness, biscoff, and decadent chocolate. Definitely coming back when we return to Stratford upon Avon
Loved this place. A warm, cost, rustic environment. The food is great. The scones are gorgeous looking and the best I've had so far.
Only takeaway at the moment. Had the soda bread. Depending on who you ask it will divide opinion as that wasn't soda bread as you know it. It had cheese, onion and sliced meat baked in. Lovely and tasty but not soda bread as such!
This looks like a real goldmine. The cafe is very small and crowded and when you step round the back, I've seen better lean twos in junk shops the roof is held up with bits of old plastic and cardboard there are holes in the floor which they think you're quite funny. I'm surprised the health and safety haven't closed it down an absolute disgrace at the back.
We arrived after a long drive ready for tea & cake. I thought the scones looked good and there were seats by the window, where we decided to sit as the rear of the cafe was scruffy. Normally I would and should have moved on!
The owner said there were only cheese, plain or cranberry scones left, so my partner ordered plain.
I went to the counter and asked if I could change mine to cranberry. He said it was too late the scones were being warmed and the plain were very good!
The large leaf tea came in a brewing pot.. it was tasteless despite leaving it to brew for over 10 mins.
The scones arrived tasting salty, like a savoury mixture, semi sponge type in consistency.. The same mix was obviously used for all the scones just adding cheese or fruits. I thought the jam would cover this but it wasn’t sweet unlike the normal jams Tiptree etc.
I picked at mine leaving most of it and
complained to him when we left about them and the tea!
He said, “ no one else complained, sorry you didn't enjoy it!”
I consider it a tourist trap being in the right area to take money, making it easy to survive.
A bad start but other restaurant and cafes were lovely as were the people, just as you would expect in such an historic and much loved town.
Lovely location, pretty garden but unfortunately that's all i can say that is good. Went today with my son for lunch, its grotty & dirty looking the further inside you go, mismatched furniture shoved in where ever they can find space.drinks & food are mediocre & there is only one toilet for the whole cafe placed right next door to the kitchen....nice!!! Upon using the loo, the air dryer didn't work & there was no hand towels. The staff looked miserable, a woman who i presume was the cook was even worse. When I ordered i requested my receipt to be told it would be brought to the table with my food.....no, I had to go & queue again & ask for it again!! Shame it could be really lovely, just don't touch the coffee either, very bitter, nasty coffee.
