I live very local to the Foundation and go in every now and then to support a local business and was in this evening with friends and ordered a cheese and meat and cheese board. Food was lovely, however, we had to ask for missing items that were supposed to come with the cheese board - bread and grapes - there was also chutney missing too. We asked for those items but were told we had bread and grapes, but they were for the meat and cheese platter. We did get the bread and cheese, not chutney, but if you're offering a platter of food and the items are listed, then customers really shouldn't have to ask for all the items to be provided, nor justify why they're asking. Plus at £16.50 and £28.00, its not cheap, so customers should get what they're paying for.
Great little independent bar in a great location. Good range of beers including several cask beers and plenty of other keg. Like a cafe really during the day - serves coffees and tea along with the alcohol. Evening times it's a bar. Loads of outdoor space front and rear. Speed of service was poor when I last (middle of the day weekday) called in. Despite it not being too busy I had to wait ages. I waited but it would have been a good idea to just let customers know you'll be with them soon..... Hope they sort it out as it deserves to do well. Update December 2023 - still going strong. Good range of beers including two cask options. They plan to do food sometime in the future, at the moment it's brownies and pastries. Definitely worth a look.....
I had such a wonderful time here with some old friends, and feel like I made some new with bar staff who were both attentive and kind. The beer selection was fantastic and I found the baby changing facilities top notch. I'll be back!
The lady serving wasn’t interested in serving explaining the beers/largers, felt like pulling teeth. We felt so unwelcome. It felt like the ‘locals’ didn’t want anyone else in (we are local I might add) not sure we will be back at all.. Shame nice idea.
First time visit at lunch time today with a friend. Had coffee and croissants both of which were excellent. A wide range of locally brewed beers on offer, so must go back to sample them one evening ????. Great friendly service and a good atmosphere even at lunchtime. Looking forward to my next visit.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Foundation at it's soft launch and it was an absolute delight for beer enthusiasts like myself. From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was special.

It struck the perfect balance between cozy and vibrant, making it an ideal spot for both a relaxed evening with friends and a solo exploration of their extensive beer selection.
Speaking of which, the beer menu was a true treasure trove for craft beer lovers. They offered a diverse range of local and international brews, each carefully curated to satisfy even the most discerning palate. The knowledgeable staff was more than happy to guide me through their offerings, providing recommendations based on my preferences.
What truly set this craft ale bar apart was its commitment to supporting local breweries and small-scale producers. It was evident in their rotating tap selection and the inclusion of limited-edition releases that you wouldn't find anywhere else in town.
To complement the fantastic beer selection, the bar also offered a well-thought-out menu of delicious snacks.
Overall, my experience at the Foundation was nothing short of exceptional. Whether you're a seasoned beer connoisseur or just dipping your toes into the craft beer world, this place is a must-visit for a memorable and flavorful evening. Small but fun bar, great to see a decent bar in the area after it being needed for such a long time. Definitely worth a trip.

Great atmosphere and wide selection of beers on tap and in the fridge to choose from. As well as cocktails, wine and coffees.
Great addition to the neighbourhood, will be back soon without a doubt!
