Best KPortal Reviews

We wanted a place outside of Iowa City for a quick drink and bites. Randomly found this pace, we walked in and were instantly welcomed like we had been there a million times. We were BLOWN AWAY by the hospitality by this family owned business. The Hog Wings came highly recommended and let me tell you, I will be dreaming about them tonight in my sleep! hOLy. CoW.. never had anything like them ANYWHERE in the country. We will ABSOLUTELY be back here again.
Conveniently located in downtown West Branch. This restaurant is literally ‘down under’ as in the basement of the building. We probably wouldn’t have found it without the useful sidewalk sign.
Adorable space. We loved the old brick/foundation walls.
Service was fabulous!
Food was ok… typical bar food. The Philly has good seasoning, the Ultimate panini had none.
Was up in West Branch for a soccer game!! We always try to eat somewhere close where we're at !! So I Google searches and found this place and I am so glad we did!! What an amazing place!! Love the atmosphere fireplace was awesome!! Will definitely go back when we can enjoy the fireplace!! Our server well she was great very friendly!! Talked about our kids being in show choir just made us feel like we have welcome!! And the food was great!! We had the nachos as an appetizer and I had the extreme Panini and my why had the down under Panini!! Next I will try their hamburgers because they are made fresh!! So I would Highly recommend this place if you get a chance you won't be disappointed!!
The staff was very polite and friendly. The young cook delivered our food and later checked on how the food was. The food was delicious and filled us up. The food is air cook, nothing is deep fried. When leaving, our waitress offered us a to go cup of water and root beer.
This gem is in the basement of an old hotel and is eclectic with the perfect atmosphere - stone walls and fire place make it perfect. Air fried menu selections that are delicious and nachos that are to die for! Good selection of beer on tap with some local crafts - great place to meet friends, not too loud - just right!
We found this restaurant doing a Google search for restaurants nearby where we were while traveling and this one had a great rating and the menu listed sounded great. It took a minute to find the entrance. Inside, its a cozy environment. The customer base that day were very vocal football fans and the IA vs IA State game was playing on the TV. It was loud. The waitress was very friendly and responsive. Unfortunately because it was so loud in there, she did not hear our order correctly and we were served sandwiches that we didn't order, but sounded close. This came after a long wait because as the waitress told us, the kitchen burned our sandwiches and she asked they be remade. We ate what we received but the fries were cold and the bun on my sandwich was too hard/over toasted, that i could not bite into it. The waitress did comp our sodas and presented us with a free appetizer coupon. Since we were traveling, we likely will not be back in that area. If we were local, we would probably go back because the BBQ cheddar burgers really sound good. But I would make sure to point to the menu when ordering.
We were the only 1s in there, for the first 5 minutes, than 12 people came in and it went down hill from there. Granted the menu said air fried, but 1/3 of the portions were so burnt they smelled burned. For the price of what we ordered was $75.00 for 3 adults and 2 kids, 8 & 18 mo. We didn't get our monies worth. You can get a better deal elsewhere, in my opinion.
Very nice and cozy bar in a cool cellar type setting. Staff and owner was friendly. Lots of TVs and the owner was happy to change the channel to watch my requested game. Good selection of on tap beers and food was tasty. Would definitely recommend if in the area. Walking distance from Hoover presidential library.
