Went for a birthday celebration for my mums birthday with my sisters. We all had afternoon tea. It was one of the best afternoon teas we have ever had. They even catered for my sister who Is gf and vegan. Hers looked amazing aswell as ours but we did say we all wished we had the same as hers as it was amazing. Its not easy to gf and vegan but they topped it off. 1000000% we will definitely go again. The staff was amazing and lovely polite ????
Overpriced and uninspired lunch set menu with nothing available à la carte. Poor execution of dishes overall; an under-poached egg, the white sagging wetly, greyly into a disappointed fish cake was a lowlight. Wine was okay, staff were friendly but made mistakes on the order: eager to the point of not quite listening.
It was very average. Maybe my expectations were too high, but the prices on the menu suggested high quality and a friendly service.
The service was bad, not welcoming at all.
Drinks and cutlery slammed down on the table by multiple staff members. Not many smiles or polite manners.
Food was average, not amazing and definitely not worth the price.
We only ate bar food but everything was of a high standard. The restaurant was busy so I assume it's as good as the bar food????????
Cream tea was lovely, brilliant service, well worth a visit .
Nice tomato soup for starters but was over priced for a soup in reality. Had the burger for main which was too dry to eat and only ate the salad and bacon from inside. Left the majority of the burger untouched and was offered something else from the menu. Didn't feel like eating on my own after my wife had finished her main so refused but had money taken off the total bill which was good. The burger was served on a piece of wood which is a bit outdated now and needless, a plate would be better.
Sunday lunch with my wife. The venue is beautiful, fantastically clean and great staff. We had the set lunch, it was very disappointing. I had tempura prawns wich were deep fried. They were ok but the portion was small. My wife had the prawn and crab salad which consisted of a few small prawns and a few slithers of fish stick. No crab at all on the plate. I don't know how they can call it a prawn and crab salad withe no crab but hey ho. For mains we both had the two meat roast. I had 2 small roast potatoes. The cauliflower cheese was nice but the beef was very tough. My wife couldn't eat it. The pork was ok. Again small on the portion side but with a giant Yorkshire pudding to sort of make up for the portion size, but even the Yorkshire pudding was overcooked. My wife had the apple and plum crumble for dessert and she loved it. I had the chocolate torte with strawberry ice-cream. It was served with no ice-cream, I pointed it out to the staff member and she said if i wanted ice-cream she would get some. Which she did, however I'd rather it was just served as described in the first place. Would we go back, well the jury is out. Perhaps just because the venue is so nice.
