My first and last visit to The Depot. The food was not good. Ordered Pork Chops, Cole slaw, cheese grits, and baked beans with a hush puppy. The grits were uncooked, I think they were the individual packaged ones with warm water added. The pork chop was very small and as thick as a piece of thick bacon. The Cole slaw had pineapple chunks which I didn't like. The baked beans were good. The hush puppy was terrible. No taste even with onion added. It was also undercooked. I have no problem paying $14.29 for a meal if it is good. But I was very disappointed.
I’ve tried this place several times and while at first I was impressed, I’ve noticed repeat issues which are unacceptable for the price. A lot of these reviews over hype this place because it’s the only “restaurant” in Florala.
The burgers are AMAZING if you get them at lunch. Don’t even bother doing dinner at this place. It’s over crowded, they take the phone off the hook, and your food will be wrong. Even the correction will be wrong so you end up paying for their Depot Burger but get a slapped together regular burger with the meat and toppings from the first incorrectly made burger.
The fries are disgusting every single time you get them. They’re consistently soaked in grease and mushy as if someone doesn’t know how to properly prepare simple fries. Not sure how they’re getting this wrong but all 3 times they haven’t been edible. While I’ll probably go back hoping to get an awesome Depot Burger, I have to rate this place only marginally better than the local Hardee’s.
Photo 4 is what I was supposed to get. 1-3 is what I got the second time which was still incorrect. Wrong size and missing cheese, bacon, and fried green tomatoes. The wait staff are always courteous and friendly. Probably the only thing this place has going for it. Save yourself the disappointment and just drive to Crestview.
Update. Still amazing. Our motorcycle group went here. Great atmosphere. Go back into time while you dine in a train Depot. Service was outstanding. Food is real down home cooking. Simple and delicious. This sleepy town has a beautiful lake to walk around too!
The peanut butter burger is a bit messy.. but it’s finger-licking good.. ???? with the addition of bacon, pepper jack cheese, and peanut butter.. this burger is so yummy and my goodness, it’s filling ! There were four of us having lunch together..and 3 of us , had PB Burgers …served with fries and sweet tea..total cost was around $15 each.
Service was great.. the atmosphere ????you could just feel the past ..and almost see the people bustling in and out of The Depot in years gone by! Go try the Peanut Butter Burger today ???????????? #lisasholleyphotography
We came for dinner since we enjoyed this place for lunch previously. I want to stress that the restaurant was NOT busy.
We ordered our drinks and the server took 10 minutes to come back and tell us she could not make chocolate milk. Another 10 minutes later she came back with our drinks and took our food order.
While waiting for our food we realized the floor under our table was filthy. Also while waiting for our food our server did not come and check up on us once. She brought us our food and did not check on us for about another 30 minutes
Though I will say the food was really good
I'm in love with the atmosphere and the history of this place! The service was excellent, and the food was phenomenal! Highly recommend the Philly Cheese-Steak and those Fried Green Tomatoes! Will definitely come back again!
