My partner and I travelled up from Wales. Its run by a Super warm and friendly couple. Amazingly comfy double bed which was much needed after the 7 hours travel. Best nights sleep I've had in a very long time! Super fluffy towels! Clean and tidy! Its within walking distance to everywhere. Will be coming back shortly with my daughter to stay. Breakfast was awesome too! Highly recommend!
Very friendly guesthouse but with a simple standard. You get what you pay. Room was very clean, bathroom dated. Unfortunately in the four nights we stayed, they never came to clean. The bin in the room was totally full in the end. But we can recommend it for a cheap and clean short stay. The Lake District is very close and the bus stops are in front of the house. Parking is not possible near the house. The only free car park to stay overnight is next to the train station. A five minutes walk. Shopping is very close by. Unfortunately the town could be much more attractive for tourists.
The photo accurately reflects the fine full English breakfast, which cost us only £6 each. Certain items were cooked very well, including the large rasher of bacon and the crisp fried bread. All items were freshly cooked. The service was excellent by friendly staff serving at tables. I recommend a visit because I'll be back there to enjoy another breakfast soon.
My husband and I had literally an hours sleep each. The hotel is on an extremely busy road and from 8 until 3 am there were loud drunk people passing and hanging around in the street directly beneath the window (and vomiting and screaming). There was also consistent loud traffic passing (eg motorbikes driving fast, trucks etc) all night. We were dropping off to sleep at 4am when one of the other guests (presumably drunk) started rattling our door handle trying to get in to our room, which understandably disturbed our 6 year old son. We would have closed the window to try to block out the noise but the room was extremely hot and also single glazed so probably wouldn’t have made much difference. I understand if this is a B and B catering to workmen but they really shouldn’t offer “family rooms” in that case. Also very expensive for what it is. We stayed in many other B and B’s which were cheaper on this trip but we’re much better. I think this is probably the worst hotel experience I have ever had.
I rang in June and was told it was 25 pounds bed and breakfast. I asked how much it was without and was told it was 25 pounds. I couldn' book it in June as they were closed for bookings I rang to book in July and it was 25 pounds without breakfast. Cv19 rip off. on entering the building it is dark and the light doesn''t go on until you get half way up the stairs. The rooms are tiny. You couldn' t swing a cat in it. There is only two sockets at the bottom of the wall on the opposite side of the bed, so one has too unplug the kettle or TV out to charge the phone. There is no chest of draws or wardrobe for ones clothes. I payed my bill half way through my stay and was asked was every thing OK. I enquired about the breakfast and got a lot of waffel about cost etc even though it was included in the price before as one of the reviews five months ago say this I was told I would get a receipt on Monday along with clean bedding, this didn' t happen. Didn' t appreciate the second pair of ears listening into our conversation especially since he didn' t introduce himself. If I wanted an audience I would of asked for one. The moral of the story here is put up and shut up they ask you is everything OK and when one gives an honest answer they don't like, things go down hill from there. The place is warm and clean except there is no room service I expect it was due to cv19, but after Sunday I didn't receive any fresh towels outside my room, I wonder why!! Found a great guesthouse in Blackpool and it's 25 pounds Monday to Friday and 25 pounds open buffet saturday/
Lovely breakfast (except the fried bread which you could tell was soaked in cooking oil).
Just can't get over the sticky tables! Everything sticks to them: your plates, your cutlery, your cup, your arms... And yes I know its probably the anti-bac spray stripping the varnish, but still. A few sheets of plastic, glass, or even transparent vinyl would sort that.
Menus on tables would be good too...
Room was clean and comfortable and the bed was so nice to sleep in....breakfast wasn't included but because I waited a while they gave it me for free.....lovely couple....would definitely stay again
Nice clean room, room was lovely, everything was perfect tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was lovely. Very reasonably priced. Value for money. Will be back. 10/10. Great as its only around corner from station. Lots of shops in town centre. Lots sight seeing. Great walks ranging from small to adventurous. Loved it. Highly recommended.
