Best KPortal Reviews

*Tonight my fiancé and I ordered the Filet Tips and the California Chicken Sandwich both of us ordered French fries for our one side.*
I called and placed this to-go order at 8:05 pm and they close at 9:00 pm. To begin: It took multiple phone calls (11 to be exact) over the course of 30 minutes for a host to answer the phone to take our order. When the host finally picked up the phone we received an attitude and could clearly hear the irritation in the hosts voice as we asked for and placed our order. I was told our order would be ready to pick up in 15-20 min. I walked in and picked up my order a few minutes before the 15 minutes I was told. Our order was ready to go when I came in, that was great. Though, it wasn’t so great when we opened up the food at home. Initially, not much looked wrong with our food. That was until we started to eat our food. (We live on Darrow Rd which is literally a 2 minute drive from the dinor and that’s if you are driving under the speed limit. Time was not a factor here.)
Our French fries were so laden with grease that they were as soft as noodles and were not warm in any respect. We could not eat them. My fiancés chicken sandwich could not be eaten with the bun as it was soggy and complete mush. The bun was falling apart to the touch. She decided that she would just eat the chicken breast with melted cheese on top. While taking a bite into her food she took a bite into a rather large piece of chicken bone that remained in her sandwich. (Advertised as a boneless chicken breast in the form of a sandwich) Unfortunately, this was not all that was wrong. The lettuce that came paired with her sandwich was brown and visibly rotten. The two pickles chosen to be placed on her sandwich were apart of the end rind of the pickle and were tiny. This was truly disgusting.
Now we can get to my meal. Stone cold as well. The filet tips were not seasoned in any way shape or form. This meal was absolutely tasteless. I received a massive heaping pile of noodles with 5-6 smaller sized pieces of steak in between. The gravy had a very mild and subtle taste so much so that the noodles themselves overpowered its taste while eating it. The “filet tips” were chewy and tasted very unappetizing.
I am appalled with the meal we received and I am very disappointed with the service I was given over the phone. I can imagine most people claim to not complain a lot and yet they will find any and everything wrong with their meal. However, I can assure you this is not one of those cases. I have eaten here close to ten times or so.
Usually I order the chicken tender appetizer with a side of french fries. Typically, the meals I receive here are pretty good. I may have the occasional cold order of fries and whatnot, but nothing that big of a deal to complain about. Especially with a take out order, I know things may cook and get done faster than the time given for pickup and this factors into the quality of the meal when I go to eat it at home. That is the one of the risks you take when ordering take out.
With all of this in mind and due to our multiple past experiences with ordering and eating food here: It is easy to determine that the small factors I mentioned above had not played a part in the quality of our meals. I have taken multiple pictures of our meals and documented the issues I mentioned in this review and we have our reciept. We spent $31 on food that we literally were not able to eat. My dog got my steak, the rest was thrown away. I should not have to pay for this and this is my honest opinion of my experience with Crossroads Dinor in Edinboro, PA.
My boyfriend and I place to go orders here pretty frequently. They answer the phone about 50% of the time, the other 50% we have to place the order there and then wait in the parking lot. Well tonight we called to place a to go order and after 11 calls a women with an attitude finally picks up, she takes our order and told us 15-20 mins. We were there in 15 and we have a 5 minute drive home. When we got the food home we were disappointed to find out we spend 30 dollars on an entirely inedible meal. We ordered the California chicken sandwich and the filet tips. Starting with the sandwich the side of fries was unbelievably greasy and soggy, the sandwich bun was so soggy and greasy and basically falling apart in spots, the pickle on the sandwich was the end piece of the pickle, the lettuce had brown/ black spots on it and worst of all I almost lost a tooth to A BONE IN THE CHICKEN!!! The filet tips were so fatty and chewy they weren’t even able to be swallowed, the fries with the filet meal were soggy and greasy as well. The server on the receipts name is Quinn it says, hopefully crossroads will change something soon , after tonight we will not be going back.
I got the poutine, but substituted the cheese curds with just regular shredded cheese. That was my error since we did take out by the time I ate it it was a mass clump lol. The fries are not homemade which was a bummer and I found the gravy to be a bit salty. Overall it was edible though. My daughters got the eggs Benedict and they said it was good their only complaint was the poached eggs were a bit overcooked and the runny part is the best part. Overall it wasn't terrible just typical diner food.
The Crossroads Dinor has a great breakfast, so we wanted to check it out for dinner. Unfortunately our dinner experience was underwhelming across the board.
The location itself is nice. We were seated in the old diner car attached to the front. It was a little hot (probably from all the windows and the AC couldn't keep up.). There is a nice selection on the menu itself. Our server was new and had to leave multiple times to get answers. She was delightful but nervous (I've been there). More training would help (as well as experience).
The steak tips were not on the noodles you would expect. The pulled pork was good (not great). Added BBQ gave it more pizzazz. The pork roast was fair. The baked cod tasty but smallish. A good dinner but not great. They do have drink specials and the night we were there they had $2 Yeungling Beers
There was a band that was starting when we left in the back. I would have preferred to sit there (by the bar area). Give them a try. Based on breakfast, we may have caught an off day. Your experience may be different.
Not sure why theres an option to order online for takeout. Ordered one pizza, mac and cheese and mushrooms. Ordered at 4:38, the pickup time was 5:23. Waited until 5:23, go to get the food and its sitting behind the counter. Received no alert on the food being done, but it was very cold. The mac and cheese was just mac with a pinch of cheese, also very cold. No clue how long it had been sitting because again, no alert on it being done. Sure, i couldve complained about it being cold and ended up waiting another undisclosed amount of time until it was done. I have to assume it wouldve been an hour because thats roughly how much time they needed for the first order. Also, when you select half mushroom it doesnt mean sprinkle bits of mushroom on the crust and over the rest of the pizza, IT MEANS HALF. HOW DO THE PLACES IN THIS TOWN THAT MAKE PIZZA NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT HALF MUSHROOM MEANS.
Im completely baffled by the high ratings for this place. If the point of the food is to eat in then ordering online shouldnt be an option.
CHICKEN WAS LEFT ON A COUNTER TO GET COLD AT THIS RESTAURANT FOR A TAKEOUT ORDER. CHICKEN.
The food was incredible, the burger was delicious, cooked the way I wanted it with just enough juice locked inside. The coleslaw had just a hint of horseradish, so much better than dumping a bunch of black pepper in it, they know how to make great food here.
The waitress was amazing, she checked on us without being intrusive, and brought to go boxes within seconds of asking for them, she was as happy to have us as customers as we were to be eating such amazing food, next time, I'll be sure to get her name.
The restaurant is well lit, not too much noise so we were able to talk and eat lunch, and the overall atmosphere was exactly what we needed to enjoy ourselves.
This place had a diner/restaurant feel to it. The waitress and staff were very friendly and welcoming. We got cheese sticks, ribs with baked potato and salad, bq pulled pork sandwich and bq pulled pork pizza. Everyone raved about their food. My family and I will definitely be go back.
Great food, cheap drink deals and a great atmosphere! There was live music when we went and had a great experience! The staff was very busy and doing their best to keep up, they may have been short staffed when we went but it was still a good experience!
