The transition from one restaurant to another has its hangups but all in all the service is really friendly and the food is good. I go often to have their shrimp pho. They're generous with the shrimp and the shrimp are really big but it's the broth that does it for me. It can be a little bit of a wait but the staff are really good about acknowledging you as you wait.
DELISH!! Apparently under new management I heard, the pho was actually so good, and I'm a bit of a pho snob, best in Athens right now in my opinion (no shade). Very flavorful broth, bright, and just the right amount of fattiness. Beef slices were also not skimpy ???? portion size was very generous but not sacrificing quality.
Also they have 10% student discounts ????
Hadn't talked to anyone about this place so I had no idea what to expect. The inside is nice and clean. The service was exemplary. The food was not only amazing, but also very fairly priced. I foresee many trips back in my future.
I wholeheartedly recommend The Crab Hut.
My husband and I love Vietnamese food, especially pho. We tried places in Athens and we didn't like any of them so when we wanted pho we went outside of Athens until this restaurant opened and I think their food is very good, especially the pho.
Worst restaurant experience. Terrible tasting food, slow service, and very understaffed.
We were excited to try the Vietnamese side of the menu as pho is my husband’s favorite soup. After 20 minutes of orders, we had finished our water and were still waiting for our appetizer order of hush puppies.
Then our waitress then let us know that they had run out of ingredients and the pho would not come with any of the vegetables (no bean sprouts, basil, jalapeños, lime, chili peppers). She asked if that would be okay and when Josh let her know that he would rather change his order, she told him that they already to start to make the pho. We asked if we could still change it and she reluctantly agreed.
When our appetizer finally did arrive, they were perfectly bland. They had no seasoning or corn inside.
When my entree arrived, she gave it to Josh. Then 10 minutes later, his entree finally arrived and the egg rolls were burned.
We asked our waitress about why the food wasn’t up to par and she said the cooks were new.
We told our waitress we were quite disappointed in the entire experience, she didn’t make any effort to improve or amend our experience. Our waters remained empty the entire meal.
We went to The Crab Hut in Athens Eastside. It's a Vietnamese Cajun Seafood Boil and Fried Seafood Restaurant but the Eastside location has Vietnamese food on the menu. I'm Asian and I've been a little underwhelmed with the Ethnic offerings in Athens and surrounding areas. I had Bun (chilled rice vermicelli with lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, and peanuts) with Grilled Marinated Pork, Two full sized Eggrolls, and an extra protein order of fried over easy egg. My friend had Pho (Beef bone broth soup with rice vermicelli noodles), flank steak, bean sprouts, jalapeños, and a wedge of lime. She wasn't sure if she would have enough protein so I told her to try Vietnamese Meatball as a side. She loved it! And remember this dish is what her son ordered for her before. For dessert, we shared a Red Velvet Cake with thick layers of Cream Cheese Frosting and a wafer of chocolate. Authenticity wise it was on par with ordering in Gwinnett or Buford Highway. We were both pretty happy campers with this spot and will put them on rotation.
Bathrooms are not gender neutral but are handicap accessible. There are two handicap parking spaces in front of the restaurant including one that is van accessible.
I love crab legs, if only it was all you can eat, oh boy. Great food, the fried calamari was slightly over cooked but great tasting. The clams, crab legs crawdads were great as well.
Lollie(I think) was awesome. They are just starting up, so we need to be patient. The service and food were amazing.
