Lighting was a little dim but the food was absolutely delicious. I got the eggs benedict and an Alright Bud mixed drink (which might be seasonal?). The food was incredible with the eggs cooked perfectly and the potatoes were crispy on the outside, soft inside and seasoned well. The drink was well made and was able to sip on it slowly. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed brunch at the Commoner while staying at the Kimpton. First thing you'll notice is that the space is beautiful, well designed, and ambiance is great. We ordered the pork belly and eggs, and fried chicken sandwich. Service was great and food came out promptly. I wasn't very impressed with the sandwich - the chicken was a little dry, bread was tough, pickles and kimchi were somewhat of an afterthought. Fries were delicious though. The pork belly was tender and flavorful, with a crispy crust. Potatoes and eggs that came with it were also excellent. The dish was a bit on the heavy side, though. All in all it was decent for the hotel breakfast.
Tried their brunch when I stay in the Kimpton hotel next door.
The seasoning of omelette was a bit wired for me, but my partner says the commoner breakfast was good
Came here for breakfast. Recommend booking through OpenTable so you have a reservation and don't have to wait. Food is good quality and the service speed is standard. Great atmosphere for a conversation and is modern. Good decor and family friendly as well. Easy walk to PPG Paints Arena and surrounding area.
Absolutely fabulous service, cocktails, and food! It was our first visit, and we cannot wait to come back! Loved the atmosphere! Highly recommend!
BEAUTIFUL inside. Service and food were great! Visited at 10 am with a couple of girlfriends, and split a bottle of champagne served with fresh juice. Got the chicken and waffles! The menu was small ( i love that). They had great choices, and it was perfect! Everyone we came in contact with from the greeters, server as well as lady at the front desk were so kind! Can't wait to go back for dinner and possibly stay at the hotel Monaco on our next visit!
Great food and lovely cocktails. I tried the gin cocktail, the awesome pork steak and the dessert (the name escapes me right now). Everything was incredibly enjoyable - the pork chop is wonderfully crispy but tender. The mustard sauce is a perfect pairing song with the coleslaw. This meal definitely hit the spot! Highly recommend.
The Commoner is a must-visit destination for any foodie looking for exceptional cuisine and outstanding service in a truly unique setting. From the moment you step into the restaurant, you're transported to a world of rustic elegance and contemporary charm.
One standout dish that I tried at The Commoner was the chicken and waffles, which was simply amazing. The dish was expertly crafted with perfectly crispy chicken and fluffy waffles that were a true delight to the senses. The dish was elevated with a drizzle of sweet and savory sauce, making for a truly unforgettable culinary experience.
In addition to the chicken and waffles, I also had the pleasure of trying the seasonal salad, which was a fresh and healthy take on a classic dish. The salad was perfectly balanced and paired beautifully with the freshly baked bread.
The service at The Commoner is also exceptional, with friendly and knowledgeable staff that are passionate about the food they serve. The warm and welcoming atmosphere makes for a truly enjoyable dining experience that will leave you feeling both satisfied and inspired.
But what truly sets The Commoner apart is the building itself, which is a true masterpiece of industrial design and contemporary style. The space is beautifully designed with rustic elements like exposed brick and wood beams, as well as modern touches like sleek lighting and contemporary art.
Overall, The Commoner is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for exceptional cuisine, outstanding service, and a truly unique dining experience. The restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients, expert preparation, and outstanding hospitality make it a true standout in the Pittsburgh dining scene. Don't miss the chance to try the amazing chicken and waffles and experience the cool and unique setting of The Commoner!
