Stopped for a light lunch. Soup of the day was Vegetable Broth, which was excellent. Also ordered a sandwich between us, and they were happy to share this on two plates. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The cost of the food was very reasonable and they seemed to be very busy with locals and visitors.
Must admit I was hesitant when my son said he wanted to go here as my last visit (pre covid) was a disaster and I walked out. However to today's trip, new owners who have brought in new staff and a completely new vibe and it was amazing. I had toast and asked for egg Mayo and bacon on the side and it was absolutely not an issue. Just got a "yes that's no problem" and received some tasty food. The difference in the place is unbelievable as are the cakes on offer that all look to be made fresh. Definitely worth a visit and I'll definitely be back.
Just went in for a coffee and a cake while we were in Montrose it was very busy nice friendly atmosphere we were spoken to right away by a lady who smiled and took us to a table which gave us time to look around an old building with stone walls really nice looking, the coffee and scone was very tasty enjoyable place worth a visit.
Sadly, every time we have visited we have been disappointed, staff more interested in chatting at the till than serving, one menu for three people? No napkins. Food dropped without a word, no real service and limited menu. Such a shame, a beautiful place with a couple of friendly staff. Like many places now, forgotten customer service. Won't be back.
Very pleasant waitresses with great banter. Frequently use Coffee House if in Montrose. Love their egg mayonnaise rolls.
Amazing historic building don't think they are making the most of it could do a lot better décor wise but always busy owners making a fortune so they don't need to bother
Toilets are lovely always clean
Food could be more healthy and cater more for vegan veggie people and gluten free not a great choice for them would like to see more modern food and drinks up to date stuff more healthy food ???????? but a very popular place with most people
Excellent home made sandwiches and carrot cake. Lovely atmosphere plus a wee gift shop if so inclined! Would have given it 5 stars but it was on the small side for those with a larger frame????
Back again, Scotch broth was superb and the carrot cake again. Coffee was a bit on the weak side otherwise fantastic wee place.
Went in and was seen quickly. Slightly too quick. A lot of staff to assist. Quite expensive
