Very family friendly, we even saw friends from a long time ago there. The food was good as we ended up with three main courses for the two of us. Love hole belly clams, Haddock & scallops! Great escape from pollen & the heat!
This is a cozy little spot for people. It is relaxing and more country like. The food was SO GOOD! I got clams, and my husband got lobster baked macaroni and cheese. You can taste the freshness from the food.
They give a large quantity too! I was surprised. We took a good portion home. Very satisfied here.
Ate here for the first time. Overall good experience. The fisherman’s platter was decent; whole belly clams were clean, shrimp was cooked nicely; fish was a bit overcooked, scallops and fries a bit undercooked. I didn’t care for the coleslaw. Hotdog was excellent. Burger was decent. My 3 items cost about $44. Went back to get my dog a puppy cup which he really enjoyed (normally he’s a bit picky).
The ladies working were nice and friendly. They brought my food to my outside seat. If you want condiments you have to go inside and go to the end of the bar area. There’s outdoor seating, and even some yard games (cornhole, giant connect 4). There’s also a patio. Parking at the front of the building.
We have been coming to Clam Box for years for reliable good food. We recommend it to everyone. Sadly, today was a not so good experience. The clam strips were rubbery and overdone. I mean every other time I got clam steps there they have been tasty and fresh... this time they were horrible. The bread on our sandwich was grilled with old grease. The cold slaw was warm and old. Only takes on bad experience to not want to return.
Do better!
It is a sad day when a place that is usually my go-to seafood restaurant completely fails to deliver on the food.
I went to The Clam Bax last Saturday night and ordered the Super Titanic Fisherman's Platter, a clam strip plate, and an order of onion rings. Total came to $56.
The food took about 15 minutes to prepare, but then it sat on a counter for an additional 15 minutes.
The food was very disappointing. Onion rings were crammed into a paper bag and fell apart when I tried to serve them. They were also dripping with grease. I asked to have the seafood well done, and it was anything but that. While the clam stips tasted good, they were not at all crunchy. The scallops in the Fisherman's platter tasted extremely fishy. Whole belly clams had sand in them. The fish was good, but the portion was small. The shrimp was good. The French fries in both dishes were soggy and greasy.
Maybe Saturday night is not a good night for seafood from The Clam Box.
Called and ordered ahead $50 worth of food, and drinks. They said it would be ready in 20 mins. Arrive for pick up & they said never called it in. Called the correct number. No manager on duty, and only one employee new what to do. Went through the orders they put it under the wrong name, refused to remake it at first and we refused to pay for the cold food. Four meals!! Drinks, ice cream. Waited over an hour for a pick up order and after they remade the food they gave us dirty looks the entire time while making it. Terrible customer service. Nothing was offered for our hour wait for a pick up order.
What a fantastic find!! The clam strips and haddock fish & chips were amazing!! As my wife said, “I’d repeat that any day!” Their secret is in the breading: light and not at all greasy like many places.
Don’t overlook this amazing local gathering spot for fresh and delicious food!
Very good seafood! My. Kids loved their burger and chicken tenders. And their ice cream is the best!
