In Essex, I had a walk from Elsenham to Newport. I decided to have lunch at the The Chequers. I wasn't disappointed, the steak and mushroom pie was very good. Nothing wrong with chips, mash of potatoes but I would recommend vegetables.

Lovely food, decent portions. Staff helpful and obliging and nothing too much trouble. We often take disabled and people with learning disabilities, we go again and again because it's good access and staff are great. The only downfall is that toilets are down about 4 steps, but there may be other toilets in the function room, where they do a carvery on Sundays.

Very nice food, staff very pleasant and helpful. Decor appears quite dated, but you're not going to live at the pub lol. The whole place is clean. Car park is big enough.

Lovely food, fantastic atmosphere, staff are friendly. Great family place to go have lunch or a drink with your mates has a nice outside seating area too. Food and drinks are fairly priced and well worth it. Always a pleasure when I go there
Always very nice food here. The jumbo mixed grill is immense!
Would have been a 5 star, but I asked for no peppers in my salad, but it was packed with them!
