Probably the worst hotel I've stayed in even though this was on Martin Lewis show.
No proper lighting on the staircase. Our room situated directly above a pub playing live music on both nights we stayed. I think we should have been told and given an option to move (they weren't fully booked)
Flat lemonade in the bar! The owner couldn't work out the music in his bar. Place wasn't hoovered and no hot water on a Sunday morning!
Really bad email communication; taking a week to reply!!!
Couldn't wait to leave!
Extremely disappointing as we booked a room with a Seaview for one night (Sat) which turned out to be a postage stamp of a bedroom and bathroom with nowhere to place your luggage plus site work in front of our Seaview which cost £120 for the night!! Very limited free parking available in the vacinity of the hotel. So an overpriced hotel for what it offered especially if you compare it with the Village Hotel which was cheaper with far better rooms, facilities, parking and only lacking a Seaview. It was however a good location for nice eating places nearby as the Hotel does no food. If you do book be prepared to be underwhelmed with your room.
Didn’t like that Wi-Fi password wasn’t provided and also was locked out in the morning. No one staffed the hotel all of Sunday morning. Good for what you pay I guess
Great rooms, cosy and with sea views, triple glazing keeps out noise of the road. Would be even better, if it included breakfast
Good points first... very clean bedroom and super shower. Great location on the seafront. Now the rest.. our room was on a real slant, walk downhill to the bathroom and back uphill to bed. Really worried about placing hot drinks on surfaces. Virtually no interaction between owners and ourselves during the stay. Front door has a deadlock on it so had to be so careful if you go out early morning or come back late. Yes you can gain access through the bar but it's not always open. Only key we were given was the room key which didn't always lock the door!! Not a welcoming place at all. As previous posts have mentioned the evenings were like a racetrack outside with souped up cars and bikes continually travelling backwards and forwards until the early hours. Quiet it most certainly is not
On the positive side, the hotel has just been redecorated; however, that is the only positive comment I can make.
My room had a door lock on it that either locked and could not be unlocked from the outside, or failed to lock at all, thereby leaving the room and its contents insecure. In addition, the door to the bathroom would only open part way before hitting the lavatory bowl. The extractor fan in the bathroom was incredibly noisy and, finally, the top cupboard in the wardrobe had not been cleaned properly, leaving dust all over the clothing items placed in it.
The twin room, in which the other members of my party were accommodated, had a similar problem with the door handle as my room. There was also no curtain on the window in the bathroom, the frosted glass on its own providing insufficient privacy when using the adjacent toilet. My wife and the other person in the room resorted to showering without turning on the bathroom light, because of the lack of privacy.
Whilst the hotel staff have no influence over local car parking, I feel it necessary to point out that parking in nearby car parks is extremely expensive, and parking on the road is very hard to come by. Any potential guests should also note that the hotel does not offer breakfast or dinner.
The combination of all the issues detailed above made it so that we could not face the idea of another night in the hotel and, therefore, we checked out after one night and sought accommodation elsewhere.
Having been asked to pay the balance of the charges on first arrival at the hotel I spoke to a very polite and apologetic member of staff about requesting a refund of three nights' charges. I was advised that they would speak to a manager who would contact me to discuss the matter but, as yet, I have yet to have that contact, despite me leaving two phone messages and also sending an email.
In summary, anyone considering staying at this hotel should look elsewhere.
No amount of new paint could cover up this tired hotel. ||The bathroom was in very poor condition, with black marks on the walls, a broken shower surround and the extractor fan not working.||Note there is no restaurant, thus no breakfast, and no bar. Although there were plenty of people drinking outside when we came back at night. ||We booked in for five nights but had to leave after four as we could not stand to stay there any longer.||The only two good points were that the staff were friendly and the beds were comfortable.
Great hotel in a great location for walks along the promenade and access to local restaurants... parking is hard, but there is some free parking next to and opposite the hotel ... otherwise paid for council owned parking is very nearby... the hotel doesn't supply food, including no breakfast ... but there are plenty of restaurants nearby, including Trams and the Mermaid Cafe...
It is quite an old hotel with no lifts ... we took four rooms and they were a great standard for the price ... the rooms were neat and well presented... although the original part of the hotels has older locking systems.
Overall we had a great stay and it was a great location with lots of great walks nearby.. unfortunately didn't take any photos of the room but we had a great one...
