My dad booked us in here for 2 nights whilst we were visiting at the weekend. Thankfully I wasn't hungover enough for the decor to make me more ill.|Good points:|1. Bed was clean and reasonably comfortable.|2. The girl who gave us the key was friendly.|3. Complimentary drinks tokens were a nice touch.||Bad points:|1. Its hard to get anyone to help, for example on the Saturday when we left there was 1 and a bit toilet rolls. When we got back from the wedding that night, the cleaners had taken them both ????.|2. Had hardly any sleep as the bar is open until 1am and the noise and rubbish techno blasting through 2 floors was deafening. Plus both nights there were people on the street by bar entrance being so loud.|3. Room was stifling hot and unable to turn it down.|4. Carpets throughout hotel needed a good hoover.|5. Shower - the worst bit, wobbly controllers that felt like they were going to fall off the tiles. There's 2 temperatures scalding hot or freezing. I actually burnt myself and couldn't get out and then burnt my arm.|Will never go back. Ever. Overpriced too.
Well I was pleasantly surprised by my short stay break! The room was really lovely as were the staff. The fried breakfast was perfect too! No parking though with it being centre of town so need to walk from car park and it's a really busy pub at night but luckily no noise after 12. Cheap and cheerful.
Last minute Telephone booking with really helpful and friendly staff. Excellent room rates in a very clean comfortable and large room. Personal touch with a lovely welcome letter and complimentary drinks and sweets popped outside our door that night ???? Breakfast service was excellent and the full Carlton hit the spot for our journey home . Wasn’t expecting much due to the low cost but was delighted with every aspect and would defo stay again.
We were so surprised with this little gem! A classic old pub with a relaxed, friendly and fun vibe downstairs seemed unnasuming, but upstairs is a collection of very tastefully styled and massive rooms with tea / coffee facilities.... ours overlooked the pretty town and we wished we had stayed longer. Provided with a complimentary tariff drink at the bar on arrival and an absolutely generous and tasty full Scottish breakfast, this place is extraordinary value for money!
Had a solo trip away from the big city. More a mental health break. I wasn't expecting much from the trip but my gosh, what an unbelievable place this was. From the warm welcome from the friendliest staff I've ever met to the attention to detail in every room and little personal touches around the hotel. My room was spectacular, a comfortable 4 poster bed, perfect to lay on enjoy my batista style coffee (not that cheap packet stuff I'm accustomed to in hotel trips) |The locals were friendly and I've made some good friends for life. |I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who even took me on a couple of beautiful local walks where we had great conversation. |The breakfast was fantastic also.|I would massively recommend the carlton to absolutely everyone and anyone! You'll never be disappointed!
Friendly & central hotel in Forres. Parking very close by.|Bar in hotel has entertainment some nights and it’s nice to get the feel of local people.|Room was comfortable for our trip and we had no issues during our stay.
10/10 service, especially from the young lad with the slipknot tattoo, he had a brilliant personality on him and he really took alot of time to explain to us local tourist attractions, and he knew alot about his whiskey which we did go and visit alot of the places he mentioned and absolutely loved them! ||The rooms were practically spotless so massive well done to the cleaners aswell!! Unfortunately I didn't meet any of the bar staff but I'm sure they would've been just as lovely!||Overall the service and staff in here are absolutely amazing! Would definitely recommend!
We stopped over on our way home. Lovely hotel, beautiful rooms, friendly staff and a very comfy bed. Free ear plugs and proper coffee. It’s a pub so a little noisy but we expected it and aren’t cross… the earplugs were a master stroke. Highly recommend
