My recent visit to The Captain's Table occurred many years after my initial one, at a time when it was deemed a traditional fish and chip shop.
Upon my recent visit, despite its unchanged name, I no longer regard it as a traditional fish and chip shop, given the shift in focus towards a broader selection of fast food, including pizzas, kebabs, fried chicken, wraps, among others.
A look through the reviews, I noted a high number of low ratings attributed to delivery issues, a challenge that seems commonplace among many food establishments reliant on delivery services for timely and satisfactory food delivery.
The staff were courteous and efficient, offering swift service and freshly cooked fish upon order.
Overall, I found it to be an acceptable take-away option, albeit with scope for enhancement.

Do not order from this place.
We placed an order at 6pm sat 12th Jan.on the app it said the food was on its way.over 2 hrs later no progress, continued tried to telephone but phone constantly in answered. We decided to drive down there to be told in an abusive manner that they tried to deliver but no answer.Even though we had the evidence on the app that it wasntv delivered they failed to replace the food and acted in a bad manner.£15 lost.Disgraceful..

Second time having it. First time was great so ordered again. This time the meat has mold on it. Thanks for the possible sickness. Didn't bother calling don't want anything else from this restaurant.....
Placed an order and it said 40 mins delivery, 1 hr later still no delivery tried to call them numerous times and just ringing out ( order placed on Just Eat)
My order was delivered quickly, the fish was huge, freshly cooked and delicious. The chips were also good but too many for me so sadly, half went into the bin!
First impressions are very good, I will be back.
But of a local gem, food is good, never had a problem with delivery or takeout. Staff are always polite and friendly and happy to engage. Always make a point of chatting with the young kids unless they are shy. Food is reasonably priced and most of the grilled food is cooked freshly when ordering.
Worst chippy I’ve ever experienced. Wrong food delivered to my house after 2 hours of waiting. Driver didn’t even know which bag of food was mine.
When my correct order finally arrived, fish was mushy and had gone off. Veg all wilted and dead. Chips cold and soggy.
A friend ordered fish from here and it was MOULDY inside. How this place is still open is beyond me.
