Rather Bare of foodstuffs, delicious breads & bakes have moved next door. However, quirky Artisan homemade wares by local handmakers & artists have filled its old counters, adding to all those extra little essential Christmas top-ups or stocking fillers not to mention additions for the bottom draw, Or those......." just because we can"!!! invest in those little extras for that extra special personalization to a loved ones gift.
Went in and got a croissant and brownie when visiting my parents in Woodbridge. Prices were quite high but both items were delicious. Seen to have alot less choice since moving into the firestation.
Disappointing customer service. My wife regularly goes into the shop and is ignored by the mature lady there. Service with a smile would be nice? Again today, she stood at the till to pay and the lady ignored her to go and serve a customer behind her. Just down the street are Christine's, a wonderful little cafe, who have customer service mastered. Would do good for you to visit the staff there and learn something!
I can honestly say that The Cake Shop makes and sells the best bread I have ever come across! All the necessary time is taken to produce the most wonderful loaves, great texture and full flavoured. There are other bakeries in the area who produce decent bread but none are a patch on The Cake Shop. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Woodbridge.
Really disappointing quality of bread - best avoided!
We are blessed with some outstanding bakeries in Suffolk - Two Magpies, Pump Street, Little Pig to name but three - but this is in a very different league. We ordered a number of loaves after reading other reviews and of course noting their awards but they all lacked flavour and texture. Worst ciabatta I think I have ever tried.
I am interested how they can make bread this poor - you have to think that it is the flour?
Never again!
Ridiculously dissapointed. Today I went and bought two belgian buns. Awful. Too much dough which was very heavy. Plus they are not belgian buns, just dough with a bit of dough thrown in. £3.25 for two belgian buns which were thrown in the bin. They tasted nasty. Way too expensive. Greggs belgian buns are far superior.
You would think the pedestrian shopping area of Woodbridge would be safe to visit on a busy lunchtime. Left with the feeling of being mugged after paying £6.00 for four iced buns. Last ever visit to the cake shop.
When you buy a tray bake or slice of cake can't the pieces be roughly the same size, it's so annoying to see yourself given a piece about two thirds the size as other bits. Who wants to stand in a queue and complain they want a bigger bit. Use a ruler, because of this won't go back. Shame. It doesn't help that it's not that cheap either if it was not such an issue.
