A cute little cafe near the bridge, we tried a variety of things from the menu. Pastries were fresh and crispy, the Cheesecake Tart had an excellent texture, so creamy. Brie, Bacon and Cranberry Panini was generous with the cheese and so crunchy on the outside.
I found the Spiced Pear Tart a nice flavour profile but was a little dry, could have used a sauce or cream. Lemon Tart had a very lemony flavour but not very sour, which I would have preferred. I do think overall the pastry cases were a bit tough and thick along the board, we left a fair bit behind.
Coffee was nice as well, will definitely be back to try some other sweets!
Also it’s dog-friendly.
We popped in for pudding after a walk around town. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our visit. The coffee was good. We tried a selection of the tarts, I had the chocolate and truffle. It was a little bit dry, and the chocolate filling had contracted within the pastry base. My partner had the carrot cake, chocolate and pear tart, it was delicious.
A hidden gem. We frequent cafes all over and can honestly say the Marie Rose Prawn sandwich was the best we have had in years. The goats cheese salad, with onion marmalade was divine, melt in your mouth tangy and my beautiful wife assures me the hot chocolate was rated 2nd of all time, as a hot chocolate offaciando. We are already marking it out for the next time we are in the region.
A nice little spot to catch some morning sun ☀️, have a coffee ☕ & pasty, watching dogs ???? walking by.
A lovely café with a traditional feel and friendly, helpful staff. My friend and I went there at lunchtime and there was a good choice of filled sandwiches, chiabattas, paninis and chiabatta pizzas. Plenty of interesting soft drinks are on offer, including their own delicious homemade elderflower drink. Also a good selection of hot beverages, including some interesting caffeine free options.
The food tasted great and was good value, too.
Well worth a visit.
I was encouraged to visit Winchester on my way home to the Lake District from my holiday in Dorset then Hampshire.
Having parked my car I noticed the pastries in the window and couldn't resist trying something for lunch.
Everything looked scrumptious ????
I'd definitely recommend finding the time to call in here... if you visit Winchester.
Sunday breakfast, not too busy on our arrival. Our orders for breakfast were taken shortly after arrival.
It was a pity that our food had a delay between the first and the last to be served.
Very poor customer service skills . Staff are all very young and were not in any way aplogetic when I pointed out that what we had ordered was not what we received to drink.
I was told we don't do that anymore. However no one said that to us at the time of ordering.
Pointed out that the menu should therefore be changed if it's no longer provided to which there was no response.
I later mentioned my point again and was barked at "we will change it".
Not impressed at all and when paying my husband was asked whether he would like to leave a tip by pressing a button on the machine!!
Left feeling quite astounded by the poor communication skills of these young girls.
