We went to The Brewers Arms for Mother's Day Lunch. We were welcomed by two lovely ladies behind the bar who seated us & took our orders. We had 3 courses from their set menu, the portion sizes were huge! Food was delicious, can highly recommend the salmon pate, roast beef & Toffee ice cream!
Lovely visit, will be returning.
Delicious lunch after a long walk. The food was very filling with generous portions and all tasted home made and delicious. Recommend the steak pie which was full of meat!
And you must visit the resident donkeys in the field next to the car park. We sat in the cosy snug table round the corner to the smaller bar area, perfect for 5 people.
Such a warm welcome not only from the landlady but from the woodburning stove!
A special Mother's day menu was on the table.
A good choice of beers, wines and 3 or 4 non alcohol beers were available. Nice to see non alcohol drinks available other than the usual soft drinks.
3 prawn cocktails and salmon pate for starters. All ample portions especially the salmon!
3 sirloin beef roasts and 1 steak pie for mains. Like the starters all delicious. I highly recommend the pie, packed with beef. It was also great to have more than enough vegetables. Having decided to go for the 3 course deal we had desert. Honeycomb ice-cream, strawberry sundae and ginger meringue with rhubarb. We of course all struggled to eat these delicious menu enders!
I really can't recommend the Brewers Arms enough for all round quality of food, ambiance and friendliness of staff.
The gift of a polyanthus for mothers just made the whole experience just even more special.
I've been meaning to visit this pub for years and last night I made it and it did not disappoint! It was a last minute decision, to celebrate my daughters birthday. We were made welcome as soon as we walked in, the food was delicious and as a bonus we were invited to join in in their biweekly pub quiz. We didn't come last! Which was a result! Suffice to say we will be back.
Found this gem on a visit to Sussex. Great welcome, lovely food. Friendly locals. Everything we love. Will definitely revisit when in the area again
Honestly, if I could give this place 0 stars, I would!
When we initially arrived, a woman who I can only assume was the owner was rude from the offset.
The first thing she said was I take it you have made a booking?! To which we replied yes but we would like to add one more place which was fine and sorted, great.
So we sit down have a look at the menu, within 5 minutes said women comes and asks if we are ready to order which we politely reply not yet, she comes back 5 minutes later and asks are you ready now, again we politely replied not yet we need a little longer, being a table of 7 and the main menu in the bar area we needed sometime to choose, her reply was ' Your joking, are you being serious?! I have another table that needs to order'
Again, we politely said no, we need slightly longer, given we had only been sat down 10 minutes.
Anyway, we make a list of what we would like ready for her return.
The starters come, squid was nice but the whitebait was way overcooked, not wanting to make a fuss as it was a family gathering we thought ok we will let that slip.
The mains arrived and well... the ham was just about cooked, the chips were scraps, the tangitelle was so over cooked it was slimey or had been precooked in the bland sauce that hadn't even seen any seasoning and been left saturated in it, the plates had been heated but the food was cold, litreally cold, so they were sent back, returned hot but still bland, so they were not enjoyed and not eaten.
When the waitress come and asked if everything was OK we said no and we would like the meals taken off, the waitress got the initial women to come over who was not at all apologetic that this had happened and was sour at the fact we had complained.
They did take the awful meals off granted but the customer service was a disgrace!
When we paid the final bill it was still a fair amount, I would not of even paid £60 for the rest to be honest, but being decent people we paid and left!
The bar staff and waitresses were great but over all I would absolutely avoid and you will not find my family spending our hard earned money in there again!
All in all if you want decent food and customer service go elsewhere!!
Looks an unassuming pub .. The food was fabulous. Great menu lots of choice. 90% food home cooked from scratch, amazing
Thank you.
A Birthday treat for.me, fabulous Sunday roast hot tasty very well cooked and presented .I was treated so have no idea of price I'm afraid!!
