We stopped over on a Friday night for the first time on our way to the east coast.
What a great place, the pub has a great atmosphere, lovely friendly staff, the shower and toilet blocks are very clean and well maintained, I can't comment on the food as they weren't serving at the time, we liked it so much that we stopped over again on our way back.
Great beer. Didn't stay to sample the food as we were just passing, really friendly staff and a very busy campsite on the banks of the Derwent. Great setting as well, although might be a bit grim in winter. Oh and we saw a swallow feeding her young.
This is a scenic site on the side of the river Derwent. Camp site, hookups for motorhomes. Bar Restaurant, pool table, fishing ... Food is good, selection of beers. Staff are friendly and helpful. Popular with familes with young children ... so can be noisey.
When I arrived I only stayed for one night I arrived at roughly 3 o,clock the place was closed but I met with the owner and he stated I was able to setup as I would only be staying for one night couldn't have been more helpful even said I didn't have to pay for the night.
Great pub, lovely food at very reasonable prices.
Great place to camp, drink, chill & rally (when COVID permits).
Bring a tent.. a camper van.. trailer tent or caravan! Either way, you’ll enjoy the environment (and the cows staring at you from across the water lol)
Lovely camping area with plenty of space along the Riverside, Staff are lovely & polite & helpful.
The food was amazing & reasonably priced, too.
I had the Steak filled Yorkshire pudding, which was delicious, and the steak was so tender.
Also had the chicken gougons with chips & and peas, which were also very tasty.
My brother highly recommends the lasagna, which he says was delicious.
Was my first visit absolutely loved the place will be back soon
